 went to new dr yesterday,new treatment, has any one been on (ct)  cyclophosphaminde / taxotere  times 6 )  herceptin 1 yrs. nurse says stay away from malls, school plays, any ideas how i'm supose to miss my 7yr plays and my 4 yrs first play, and xmas shopping for them????? but dr says oh you'll be fine.

I did a similar treatment.  A/C and Taxol.  I'm still doing Herceptin and will be till April '09.  Judging from your pathology - you will be fine. Your tumor was small and node negative.  The treatment won't be fun, but you'll get through it.  And the nurse is right - you do have to watch out for infection.  The chemo will knock out your immune system so you'll pick up cold germs and other infections much more easily.  But you don't have to hole up in your house and hide.  Just make sure to wash your hands a lot, carry a hand sanitizer in your purse and get lots of rest.

Also try taking Airborne tablets (you see this out a lot in the cold season) a half hour before you going out in public.  This will boost you immune system a little. I also took Xango juice daily and never and a cold or flu all through chemo.

It's more important to have a life in the middle of treatment than worrying about a possibility of a cold.  Always ask your doctor about the state of your white counts.  This will tell you on what weeks to be more cautions.
