First, extra couple of days in Houston to avoid driving in or thru hurricane last week.  No improvement in wife's heart, Chemo knocked LVEF to 27%, so Wife's in congestive heart failure,  The chemo part of treatment has now gone past 11, originally to be 6, and on third mix, and this one has the worst SE of all the others combined.  Can't do surgury till heart gets stronger so no end in sight for chemo.  While wife was getting chemo her brother called to say her mother was in hospital and would not be coming out. Her mother was DX with Lung Cancer after wife's IBC DX.   So, after 5 hours of IV's, Wife gets up and I drive her 600 miles while she suffers, pain, nausa, up-chucking, fatigue and the knowledge of losing her mother.  Now at her mother's home she can only make limited visits to her mother in hospital because of her SE's.  Still 300 miles from our home, Wife can't miss cardiac appointments Wed,  Wife wants to be with her mother, but can't, and that hurts her more than the cancer.  Wife is so damn strong, and I hurt so much for her.

I think this woman needs to be with her mom. A cardiologist in town could see her possibly.  Unless her mother will thrive long enough for your wife to go back.  Motels are great and they are tax right offs if you tell them a family member is a patient in the nearby hospital.  These two ladies may need each other now more than ever, a mom and daughter both in the same exact place in life.  Do try to see if this can happen.  They ladies will find strength in each others eyes.

Reading through, I just realized you are in Houston area and of course, the weather is so bad.  I hope you all are safe and dry and comfortable, whatever you decided to do.
