Who watched Stand Up to Cancer?....

I watched the show too. First they let us hear about the new treatment and that she's cancer free which gives us so much hope. but then you don't get no details. I wrote down the name of the doctor and the facility and googled the internet but couldn't find nothing definate either. I even asked my onc and he didn't know about it. Very frustrating especially since I was just diagnosed with the return of my cancer. As far as I remember she did not get Herceptin. she is injected once a week with lab created antibodies. Why don't we hear about that especially since it could save lives.

I was Stage 3 until new dx last week.  I did surgery, chemo, rads and year of Herceptin.  But after just finishing Herceptin less than four months ago, I have mets to brain.  Strange how some breeze through and others don't!

  Also, I just spoke with a doctor today and she said that HER2+ BC patients are VERY suceptible to brain mets.  She is doing lots of research and it is proven to be more common that thought.  Wish I knew that a few months ago, I had CT in January and tumor wasn't there.  I began with headaches and a little off balance a few weeks ago and mentioned to Onco at visit.  Fortunately, he order a CT and discovered a large tumor (on scale of 1-10, 10 is worst, this is a 6. Kinda sucks!!!!!  I will be treated with Gamma Knife Surgery on Monday and hopefully this will emlimated the tumor and I can avoid surgery.  Chemo will not work on this tumor, so they say.  It's fine with me, as I just finished reconstruction and had port out in August.  I've had it with surgeries!!!

Unfortunately I missed the program. But I wanted to toss out there, in case no one else had, that Herceptin is not technically "chemotherapy". It is a targeted antibody therapy. So if one has only Herceptin, they are not having chemo.
