As The L Word approaches the start of its sixth and final season, Showtime confirmed to TVGuide.com that the show's spin-off will star series vet Leisha Hailey.

Hailey has played L Word's Alice since 2004. Apart from her casting, few details are being revealed yet about specific plans for the spin-off, but a rep for show suggested that it will pick up where The L Word leaves off after its finale.

Creator Ilene Chaiken will write and produce the new pilot, which will start shooting in December. Now that Alice will be anchoring the new show, who else would you want to see along with her, carrying the proverbial series torch? - Anna Dimond

    Amy....I just saw this! That will be awesome to have Alice as the central character! I wonder who else will be on the new show? And I guess that it will also be on Showtime? I can't wait for January when the final season starts!

    I can't wait until January either. I REALLY like Tasha, so I hope she's on the show. My only concern is that Alice is among the younger women and I like the storylines of the older women better. Even though Alice is cute as a button, I don't really relate to her.

    I'm glad to hear that, Amy, because everyone I know who watches just adores Alice to the exclusion of everyone else. The only characters I've disliked recently have been Jenny and Jodi. I hope that they're done with that Jenny crap....who cares if her movie ever becomes a reality?

    I hear ya about Tasha! She is totally hot!

    I agree with you about Jenny and Jodi. I never liked Jodi and was never wild about Jenny either, although my reaction to Jenny wasn't as strong as to Jodi.

    Maybe I'm being cynical, but I'm thinking whoever does the spin off will probably be the ones who don't have as many options career wise. The ones with lots of options usually seem to be the ones who are more ready to end the show.

    i think Alice's character was one of the best...she acted out the lines given perfectly, and made the script comical in a truly honest way. she's an awsome actress and i can't wait to hear more about  a new show.

    I agree with you about that one rayne- and she is an awesome actress. I just don't relate to the character. Alice is fun to watch-- I just don't picture her as one of the characters I'd be hanging out with-- hehe..

    I am sad that L Word is ending, but at least there will be another show to watch!

    I like Alice, she can be a tad annoying sometimes, but she is quite funny. I also hope they keep Shane around, she has so much to offer in the way of possible story lines!Smile

    Here's the latest on "The Farm" the spin off with Alice.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    But an upcoming L Word spinoff where Alice Pieszecki (played by Leisha Hailey) lands in prison for murder has left longtime fans scratching their heads. The new series, reportedly called The Farm, is set in a women's prison and includes both lesbian and straight characters.
    "If the new show goes on the air, it will be connected to the Who-Killed-Jenny storyline," Chaiken told Entertainment Weekly, "and I would say that that's what Alice is in prison for. I don't know that she actually killed Jenny."
    I'll probably watch the spin-off because my withdrawal pains are still severe, but how ridiculous is all of this? Couldn't they have done a spin-off with everyone following Bette and Tina to NYC to get away from the bad memories? Or anything but this stupid prison thing? What kind of fashion are we gonna see in the freakin' prison??!
    I hope that you all know me well enough to realize that that last remark was largely (though not entirely!) tongue-in-cheek! Wink
