FEC vs CT?

Options
I've been offered FEC x 6 treatment which is FLUORORACIL, EPIRUBICIN AND CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE. I'm not too happy with the epirubicin because of rare effects on the heart. I've heard that CT (cytoxan and taxotere) would be less harmful to the heart. Has anyone got any views, knowledge or experience of these? Thank you in advance.

Hi Lynette.I'm in the UK and I had 4 treatments of FEC and 4 of Taxotere. I've got to say that apart from my hair falling out (I was told the Epirubicin is the culprit for this) I was absolutely fine but the Taxotere was another matter. After the first treatment I had terrific leg and foot pain which lasted 48 hrs and no amount of painkillers would touch it. I was warned that it may get worse after each treatment but fortunately this didn't happen. I finished chemo in July 2008, had surgery in September 2008 and then 25 treatments of radiotherapy which finished in December 2008. I am now awaiting results of bone density scan and am on Arimidex for the next 5 years.  Good luck with your treatment.
