A year or so ago GL tried to do a breast cancer story line with Reva.  It was abysmal, infuriating and insulting.  I stopped watching; But by chance I tuned in last week.  Well, they are dealing with it again much differently so far---

Night and day difference--- I hope they keep it up

Interesting! I used to watch GL (until they started hand-held camera; too distracting) and saw her secretive cancer teatment. Episodes are probably available online?

Reva's cancer was the worst depiction of cancer EVER. It was unwatchable as she martyred herself for what she said was the sake of her loved ones. I read that this is just a scare and that she's fine, I hope it's true, I don't want to see another Reva martyr story.

OLTL did breast cancer much better when Viki was diagnosed, IMHO.

I missed OLTL, with Viki's bc, but I used to watch it, when I was in high school and college.  I also used to watch GL, until they kept showing stories where they went back into the past, and walked into paintings... it was just too hokie for me.

Amy, I do agree that Reva always acts like a martyr, in every situation.  Another reason I stopped watching.

Harley-- the most poignant part of Viki's bc was when she and Asa were arguing about something (he didn't know she was sick) and he insinuated that she was just fine. She popped off a wig and showed her bald head to him. I think her head was really bald too, because after she stopped wearing the chemo wig her hair was REALLY short. Asa of course felt horrible and it pushed him back to acting less mean-- for a while.

The big thing with Reva is that she doesn't have her cancer back, she's pregnant. Even though she was in menopause the pills she was taking to prevent the chemo from coming back brought her out of menopause and she got pregnant even though she never had a period. Lillian, also a bc survivor told Jeffery (Reva's husband) that survivors should usually wait 2-3 years before getting pregnant and that pregnancy could cause the cancer to return. Reva wanted to have the baby so I'm sure there is more ;martyrdom to come.
