RASH AROUND EYES

I have been taking Herceptin weekly since May 3, along with T/C.  I finished with chemo and have had one weekly infusion of Herceptin, then I start the three week treatment this Friday.

I've had the runny nose and eyes and slight redness around the eyes...I thought it was from rubbing my eyes.  After Friday's infusion, I have a whooper of a rash around my eyes.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Benedril (sp) does zip.  I see the oncologist on Friday.  Just curious  if anyone else had this problem and how did the onc. treat it.  Looking like Uncle Fester isn't very nice...lol

    Hi nan53,

I wonder if it is from rubbing your eyes. I didn't have a rash when I was in tx. Did you change facial soap? Hmm... Maybe a little hydrocortisone lotion will help. I hope you get some answers on Fri. Hopefully it will clear up before then.

    Hugs,

    Lexi

Oh my, please do NOT use the hydrocortisone near your eye.  In fact, you shouldn't use any over .5% that's 1/2 percent above the shoulders and be very careful in the sun, as it thins your skin.  Could be conjunctiviitis that's has spread from wiping your eyes?  Regardless, remember to wash your hands after touching your face till you find out what it is, then also, when you wash your eye, or rub, make sure you aren't cross contaminating your other eye.  Is the eye draining clear? or other?  Eyes are very important to get checked out if you have an infection, get in to someone tomorrow if you can.  Very important.

I took Clariton with the last infusion...magic...NO RASH...NO RUNNY NOSE...NO RUNNY EYES..

If that didn't work, then the onc. was going to discontinue the herceptin....thank heavens.

     Thanks to all for responding.
