I've never had pickeral but like most fish and seafood....salmon, scallops, shrimp, haddock, and trout are all favorites.  I also had some delicious sole a couple of weeks ago.

I LOVE seafood...there are a few kinds of creatures I don't like but prefer seafood in general over beef and chicken.

I love lobster and aside from a lobster roll this summer haven't had any.  When I saw the title of your post, I reminded my husband that we have to have lobster soon before the summer is gone.  Don't know if I've ever had pickeral.  At first I thought you meant to write pickled herring.

    clueless on the pickerel....

but I LOVE crab legs...soft shell/king you name it!  I used to be a lobster fan until I tried crab legs...living in Florida its easy to get the best.

    I also enjoy talapia.

Another is grouper...but it has gotten so so expensive..sometimes as much as lobster...and it used to be one of the inexpensive finds.

Served with a nice crisp Austrialian Reilsling!...and perhaps a slice of key lime pie!

I had the most exquisite crabcake this past weekend while visiting Baltimore. It was the best I have EVER eaten!

But for me it's LOBSTER TAILS with drawn butter. I can't even carry on a conversation when eating them!

Then there's shrimp...I just found a recipe today for Shrimp in Mango Sauce and plan to make it this weekend.

I'm becoming famished from this conversation!!!

Living all my life in New England, I am a lobster eater (much prefer the claws) but I confess to loving King Crab even better.

Other than that, I love, love, love fried clams with the big, fat, squishy bellies.  The only bad thing is that sometimes they have those rubbery "feet" which can make chewing a challenge.  Steamed clams are just as good.  NE style clam chowda, too!

Then, there are baked, stuffed shrimp.  DH is making them tonight (using the jumbos, fresh and not farmed).  He makes his own stuffing and tops all off with lovely bacon.  Oh, heaven.  To hell with losing weight.

Of course, brook trout, pan fried, are in a class all their own.  Too bad there are so few brookies left.............

Did I mention I am getting hungry?  Thanks, Sierra!

I ate  my first enjoyable clams a couple of weeks ago.  I'd had them in my 20's, but lobster won out hands down.  Went to a "beach" party with clams and was so suprised that I enjoyed them.  Of course, with butter, most anything is wonderful.

I eat oysters, trout, catfish, other white fish, like grooper and red snapper.  Crab is a super way to give up a diet as well!  But I can only prepare a tuna casserole.   LOL, have never cooked a fish, except shrimp that I would eat or do again.  Guess I'm just a BBQ gal.

My recipe (given to me at my bridal shower---with the instructions included to say: if you want to eat out, just tell your husband this is what you are going to fix for dinner!!!!)

-One small can LeSeur green baby peas

    -one can tuna, drained

    -one can mushroom soup

    -2 cups of cooked rice.

-mix well, heat till hot and serve.

Now, talk about easy and it's good, too.  Just add salt and pepper to taste.

Today, I cooked wild coho salmon, fried asparagus in olive oil, and sprinkled with parmesan cheese, made a homemade coleslaw. (Merlot of course)

Dotti!  It's funny you mention that sneaky device to get to eat out.  When we were first married, I kept a can of corned beef hash in the pantry for exactly that reason.  Whenever I didn't want to cook, I would casually mention that can of hash..............worked every time until my DH caught my girldfriend and I snickering over it one day. LOL

Had lunch out and had a seafood casserole, all fresh, local catch, including haddock, scallops, lobster, crab. Only the shrimp weren't local.  It was delicious but I'm so full I can't even think of having dinner.  Here's to seafood.

Oh, one more thing....next time try to purchase a cedar plank especially made for your fish top it w/ olive oil s&p fresh garlic and cook it on the BBQ  THEN, put lemon...adding lemon before tends to makes fish dry.

It has a hint of smoke flavor and is delicious.

    My word.. how reasonable..

I will take a peek for that one

    many wines here

    at $7. or $9.. etc.

    and they say

    dont go by the price

    try it

the Australian wines got too pricey for me

Plank ideas sounds good, I dont have a lot of space

but will take a look when at the store next time

interesting re the lemon.. did not know that

A pal of mine here says our fish smells

and think she washes it in vinegar

she says they do not clean it, well, I always

watch the prawns .. that they devein those

but never did wash my fish in vinegar

    sometimes dip it in milk

    Well, tomorrow, have to disappoint

might not have fish, out for a b. day lunch

and might even have a big filet..

have not had one in over a year

    :))Sierra

    I drink a Spanish wine

    about $11.00 sometimes

I highly recommend Freixenet (sp?) Brut, the cheap Spanish champagne.  Some places you can get it for $8.99 a bottle (full size) and neighborhood packies for around $10.99 or so.  My drink of choice.  Goes with anything.

No bull on the bottle though.  :-)

    Iodine~

I just read this so you've already been here but I live in Newport!  And guess what...I hate seafood.  Stems from being forced as a youngster to eat really gross fish that my dad's friends gave him.  I do like clam chowder but I leave the clams in the bowl (same with clam cakes).  The look on the waitstaff's face is priceless.  Best clam chowder I have had is in West Yarmouth on Cape Cod at Captain Parker's.  It's SO GOOD, also the Black Pearl in Newport is good but every expensive.  Everything in Newport is expensive.Undecided
