Hi my name is Darlene and i am 30 years old. Hope yall dont mind me stopping by to ask a few questions i have.

A couple of months ago i found a lump in my armpit while doing a breast exam, i didnt really think anything of it as it was in my armpit. I would feel for it every once in a while to see if it had went away but never did. A couple of weeks ago i went to put deoderant on and i notice the lump is now very visible, so it has gotten bigger, its hard and doesnt hurt at all. I brought this up to my mom {who is 13 year suvivor of bc} and asked her if i should worry about this. She was so kind to remind me all of her lumps had come up in her armpit, this got me a little worried. So my come back was im only 30 im to young to get cancer {knowing darn good and well age doesnt matter} she informed me she was only 35 when she was diagnosed i knew she was young but never really put two and two together to figure out how young she was.

So my question is where do i go, who do i go to? Do i go to my gyno with my very whacked out periods ive been having {another issue} and just bring up the fact that i found a lump? Or do i go to a family practice dr. Since i have a family history of bc will they take it seriously even though im only 30? {I also have a grandfather that had bc years and years ago}  Also when i go in what can i expect them to do as in checking the lump out? Im sorry for all the questions, im really trying not to think the worst, but this is the first time ive ever had a lump that didnt go away and has actually gotten bigger. Ive googled {so not a good idea by the way..lol} and i know it can be many different things but i would really like to be prepared if its turns out bad. Call me crazy but this just doesnt feel right.

Anyway thank you for any advice i can get.

    Darlene ~

Your always welcome to join us and ask anything....

Any lump should be checked out...and since you have BC in your family history it would be advisable to have it looked at.  I went to my OBGYN and they ordered a bunch of tests.  The lump under your arm could be reactive in nature as to what is going on in your breast as well.

To ease your anxiety remember, 80 % of lumps are found to be benign...and BC is only 10 % inherited. As well as your age...though its not impossible as your mother would agree.

Anyway, even if you rule out...it will help you sleep at night just knowing you took the pro-active approach...but remember too early detection IS key.

I wish you luck ...and please keep us posted!!!  I am happy to hear your mother is a 13 year survivor!!!

    Much LUV
