    Dear Heavenly Father,

    On our long road, where we cannot see our destination, fill our hearts with a vision of faith.

    In our suffering, when we cannot make sense of why this has been brought upon us, let us trust that You will turn evil into good for the salvation of many. Genesis 50:20

    When our loved ones reject us in our state of suffering, let us know we are never alone, and You will never forsake us. Hebrews 13:5

    When we are in darkness, let Your light be a lantern unto our feet, illuminating where we should go. Your Word is our light. Psalm 119:105

    When we are myopic, nearsighted, and focused only on ourselves, may we look up and see the cross on Calvary, a price already paid for our salvation.

    When we are thirsty, hungry and tired during our illness, may You be the Bread of life and sustain us on our sickbeds. Psalm 41

    When we cry out to you, may You hear us and answer our prayers. Psalm 34:17

    When we cry out for healing, may You speak healing into us, so that we will be healed indeed. Psalm 107:19-20

    Dear Heavenly Father,

    You are a positive God, seeing the best in us, encouraging us to offer prayers of thanksgiving, to count our blessings even in our suffering, knowing that for the children of God, we are being refined for a greater purpose. Gratitude connects us to joy, one of the fruits of the Spirit.

    I didn't know what it felt like to rise stiffly and painfully out of a chair I had been sitting in. I have now walked in others' shoes, and my compassion has deepened. I did not know what it was like to be rejected in a marriage because of my serious and deadly disease, as well as my son's cognitive affliction, autism, and now I do know. My compassion has deepened for the sick, the lonely, the rejected, and the cognitively impaired.

    I didn't know what it was like to be so emptied out of energy that the pizza delivery man becomes a Godsend so that my child is insured dinner, for I cannot rise to my feet. Now I know that energy is like a commodity. It is worth its weight in gold, and when You bless me with it, I can use it to bless others with it. May those with a surplus of energy use it to pay it forward, and help those without it, for the time being. For it is promised that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. I wait upon you Lord, and when I need an abundance of energy, and it really counts, You deliver.

    I hold on to your promise:

    Now I do know what it was like for mybest friend Jackie to a raise a son with autism. She died tragically with him in 1997. I loved them, and wish I had the compassion and deepened love for persons with autism and other impairments that I have now, but I trust in Your perfect timing, Lord. I could have helped her so much more with a deepened understanding for her struggles and her son's.

    We need deep compassion and understanding to serve Your kingdom and Will here on Earth. We gain this in our suffering, the suffering we share with You at Calvary. We are part of Your plan for the injustice, hunger, and other ills of the world, imbued with the Holy Spirit, strengthening us, guiding us, enabling us, to be Your workers, no matter our condition. Even if it is a prayer to offer up, it holds great power.

    We wait upon You, Lord Jesus, that You will renew our strength.

    You do not want us to dwell in darkness. Darkness is a void, like a black hole in the universe, that has power unto itself to swallow up entire stars. Teach us to apply Your scriptures and promises in them to speak life unto our spirits, minds, and bodies.

    May You use our deepened compassion and love to bless others with it. May we speak only good, positive words over our situations and sickness, taking Your example from Your Holy Word.

    please help my friend Dianarose, she has seen the doctor today and did not hear what we have been desperately hoping for. She needs a miracle, and to be protected from fear, panic and pain she is facing. I have never heard her this scared, I have never felt her panic like this. I pray for her relief and to be able to believe in the faith I’m trying to learn more about everyday. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
