Cyst after Chemo and Radiation

This afternoon I had an ultrasound done on the breast that had/has cancer.  After my lumpectormy the incision opened up 3X and then I used butterfly strips to hold it closed.  My boob is very large.  Anyway, I found something that felt a little different and it is very painful.  My doc ordered an ultrasound.  The tech did her thing and then left the room, the radiologist came in and looked at the area.  He told me that I have a cyst ... and that the other part around the incision may be scar tissue but the only way to tell for sure is a mammogram or an MRI.  My rad onc who ordered the ultrasound is out of town until next week.

Has anyone had this or a similar experience?

There is some medical name I can't remember ....that describes dead and damaged cells that stick together and make a cyst or lump near scare/tumor site.  I do know a lot of women this has happened too.  I think they also feel my touch...if it free floating...meaning not attached to tissue, it is usually B9.  It has to been attached to get a blood supply.  Any way that my hope for you, that its just dead cells.  How is it when we are having a crisis the doctor is always out of town?

Hope you get a answer soon. They waiting is the worst.

I had a similar experience just recently. I found a lump in the breast that had BC. It became large very quickly. I saw my onc and he put me on antibiotics. He said it was probably a cyst since it grew so fast. It did respond and I was relieved. Then just a month later, it was back! This time I saw my surgeon and he cut it out, saying it would probably just keep coming back. It was related to one of the stitches that was harbouring bacteria. Anyway, it's gone now and the pathology came back clean. No cancer!! It was scary, but it all turned out OK.

Thank you both so much for your sharing what happened to you.  It is difficult not to be scared.  I have been out of town since last Wednesday and this is the first chance that I have had to post.

My radiation onc will be back tomorrow.  What is frustrating is that I saw my gen physician first, he then referred me to my surgeon.... who did absolutely nothing but tell me that it is just scar tissue.  My lumpectomy was 11/1 ... the "scar" tissue was beginning to feel better ... this "new" area hurts ... I, fortunately, decided to call my rad onc and he saw me and ordered the ultrasound.  He seems to be the only doc who gives a flip (my general physician is great, this just is not his area).  My surgeon on two different occasions made statements with confidence that were untrue ... that is why I finally convinced myself to call my rad onc.

    Thanks again for your help!

     Blessings,

    Kay
