    Hello ladies,

I wasn't sure where to post this question, so I thought I'd try here.  Didn't want to post in the treatment sections for fear of scaring some of the ladies going thru chemo, rads, etc.

I had my first lumpectomy July of 2007, re-excision + SNB in August 2007, chemo from Sept. 2007-Jan. 2008, finished rads April of 2008.  I am still having some pain, though not severe by any means but still aggravating, in my underarm around around the SNB scar, and also in my affected (right side) boob, which is still swollen a bit and tender.  As described in a previous post, I had a mammogram (very painful one) in early June of this year, which was too soon after my treatment ended--- found that out AFTER the fact!! Yell

Is it normal to have pain a year after surgery?  Has anyone else had this??  I have asked my doctor and nurse practitioner and they just say "yeah that's normal" but they're not the ones having the pain.  I am getting concerned that the too-soon-after-tx mammogram caused some kind of tissue damage?  BTW, the mammo was completely normal and they told me I wouldn't need another one until a year from now.  I thought they would do one every six months?  I guess everyone is different...  Thanks for your help and input!

    Hi, Mary Jo...

I had a bilateral mx with 17 nodes removed on one side followed by radiation in 2004. I hadsome pain in the node area for quite a while (over a year) after the surgery. In fact, sometimes if I lay down weird I have pain. My breast surgeon said it was from scar tissue. I think if it has always been there and hasn't gotten any worse or swollen, it IS pretty normal.

Sigh...The things they don't tell you about this stupid disease could fill volumes, couldn't it?!?
