Bone Scan Results

Hello Everyone,

I have some questions.  I am starting to regret pressing for a Breast MRI  instead of just a mammogram.  My breasts were fine, but I had a spot on my sternum which they thought was just degenerative bone, but wanted to repeat scan in 4 months.  So. I did and got the results today.  This time the same spot showed up so they feel good that it is NOT cancer, but had another tiny spot on my skull???????????????  Has anyone ever heard of that?  I generally hear of breast cancer spreading to the bones at the breast bone, pelvis, femur, spine, etc. 

Anyone?

Hi Shannon, I think you are right, but I am sure they will watch you and that way they can see what is up, if anything.  We had a friend who had what they thought was a met on the lung, he went in, they took out the lobe, and took him into x-ray, there the thing was!  It turned out to be a benign cyst on a rib.

So there are many, many things that show up funny.  My father-in-law had several brain x-rays and scans over his lifetime, they always went berserk.  It was nothing, he had been a semi-pro boxer in his youth, and the spots were the remains of those days.  So until you know what the heck is up, try not to worry.  The old canard is, "When 3 radiologists agree, throw everything out and start over".  This is an old hospital joke.
