Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share with you all.  I was dx in June of 2005 with er/pr negative....her2+++ IDC.  I had a 4 cm tumor.....1 sent. node had ONE microscopic cell of invasion.  I chose a right breast mastectomy and then did 4 dose dense A/C, followed by 4 dose dense taxol with herceptin starting at that time.  I received 1 year of herceptin every 3 weeks.  When chemo ended I did 28 rads.  Seven months after my first mast. July 28th 2005 I had a left breast prophylactic mastectomy.  I just recently (June 17, 2008) had delayed bilateral DIEP reconstruction.

Tomorrow is my 3 year NED cancerversary.  My prognosis 3 years ago wasn't the best - with having a 4 cm tumor and also being her2 positive BUT here I am 3 years later and I am healthy as a horse.  LOL!

Just wanted to share my good news with you all as a way of offering hope and encouragment to all.

Thanking God for this special time in my life,

Mary Jo

Thank you so much for sharing this. I feel doomed now and your post helped me think I can live to see maybe 45.

Congratulations!  I just had my 3 year cancer free anniversary on May 29th.  At age 34 I was diagnosed with stage 5 breast cancer.  I was Her2neu + and had 6 positive nodes and 8 liver mets.  I had a double mascectomy immediately and 6 months of adryimycin(sp) and taxol and weekly treatments of Herceptin.  After chemo my Herceptin treatments went to every 3 weeks and I have had them for the last 3 years and will continue to have them for the rest of my life.  I have a very wonderful and aggressive oncologist and she orders PET/Scans every 3 months.  Just had my last in June and still cancer free!  I honestly believe that God and a postitive attitude helped my healing process.  I could not give up!  I had kids who needed me and they are better and stronger today, and so informed.  I have been told that I cursed my daughter and she will have to start mammograms  ten years before I was diagnosed... So she will have to start her breast care at the age of 24 years old and she is only 17 now but she knows how important it is.  I am the only person to ever have breast cancer in my family so I guess you could say I was a trend setter...lol  I have just had my nipples reconstructed 2 weeks ago and will be completing the tatoos in 2 months... and I have finally decided that I'm tired of sitting around waiting for breast cancer to kill me so I enrolled in college to finish my nursing degree.... Best of luck to you
