Niece just found out

My niece found out today that she has breast cancer.  She has two types, according to my sister.  One is a mass that stays as one 'clump' but the other is spreading.  She is so young, in her 30's, and so we all prayed that it was nothing.  I have done nothing but cry for her since my sister called me this evening.  I have always said that she is a tough cookie and I pray that she is tough enough to get through this.  She has two daughters, one is starting kindergarten this fall and the other just turned 2 this month.  How do you offer support to your loved one?  Our family has never encountered a crisis in our immediate family and I guess we all thought that we were so lucky.  But I sure don't feel so lucky anymore.  She meets with the surgeon on Wednesday and they say that she is the best in our area.  Any suggestions?  Any information would be so helpful.  Our family knows nothing about breast cancer.

Thanks so much!

I am 31 with 4 small children.  Honestly, just sit with her, help watch the kids, clean the house, go grocery shopping, help organize meals, if she doesn't mind help her open her mail.  Don't wait for her to ask you to help, just offer and do it.

Yes, my diagnosis was and is crushing to my family, but we have all pulled thru this together.
