Alexandria, Virginia (across from Washington, DC) is having its Cherry Blossom festivities and the trees are at peak bloom and spectacular.  It was 70 degrees and sunny today.  Forsythia is blooming, the bartlett pear trees along the streets are like driving thru a clean, white, fresh landscape of whiteness.   Magnolia trees are showing their colors, daffodils add some yellow and the grass is nice and green after some recent rain.

Honolulu, cool evening (69 or so) and rainy. A bit of thunder, unusual here. The plumeria are blooming. Jacaranda weren't as showy as they usually are in March. Golden shower trees look as though someone put scrambled eggs in their branches.

Well our Winter Weather Watch is now a Winter Storm Warning and it is already pouring the snow in one end of the county.  I love snow but not now, not until next Christmas.  Am SO ready for Spring!

We had rain showers this morning, now bright sun 57 degrees but calling for possible snow (50% chance) this evening in the higher elevations and a freeze warning. I am glad I resisted the urge to plant my flowers this weekend.

Sheila, I know what you mean about planting flowers!  I was at Lowe's yesterday and looking at all the beautiful blooms, hoping they can get them all in before the freeze.  I hope they miss this weather forecast big time.

My pastor's wife works at the NC Agricultural office and she said the best rule of thumb around here is to plant delicate flowers/gardens after Mother's day to make sure that you are past the last freeze date.

The American Indians say it is time to plant when the oak leaf is as big as a mouse's ear.  However, I have not seen many oak trees around here.   The latest forecast is possible flurries by morning.   Isn't it April?  My calendar says so, lol.

The upper elevations (just 30 mi north above 3200 feet) had 3-5 inches of blowing snow and temps in the 20's. I woke up with temp around 35 and wind but no snow (elevation 1250).

40 degrees this morning, brrrr.   Way below normal and what happened to Spring time.  rain is ok, but snow...  April showers bring May flowers, right?

31 degrees here, windy, 7 inches of snow in the northern part of our county and still snowing.  School was on a two-hour delay, but after most of the teachers got to school, they called school off.  Lots of unhappy people and most of them have called my office! Cry

It has been cold and rainy here for the past week. Fortunately it didn't rain Saturday afternoon for the party we planned for my 95 yr old grandmother. It even rained out the Coca Cola 600 Sunday and only got just over half of it run Monday before it started raining again! I'm not complaining, we have been in drought conditions for 2 yrs and because of the rains over the past 4 months, water restrictions are being lifted.

Lilia, Yesterday we did have a slight shower (maybe 5 minutes). Last night we had for the low around 65, fan in the window and air conditioner off.  Today is overcast and 50% chance of pop up showers. I think the temp is around 75. They are calling for gradual warm up through the weekend.

BTW ADK, each time my daughter goes to Boston... it rains there!  The good news this last school trip is that the weather was just yucky... coldish but no rain!

    Hi Lilia,

It's not raining right now, but it will soon.  It's just as crappy here as down your way.  I'm suprised that the Red Sox & Yankees have been able to get their games in.  We are supposed to get some sort of improvement by Saturday.  Tomorrow is supposed to be really bad rainwise.  I hope I can hang in until the sun comes out!!

We have had the wettest spring in over 6 yrs. There was a F-1 tornado touch down Tuesday night in Cleveland County (couple of counties away from my home). Last night one area in Charlotte had recorded 5 inches of rain in 2 hours. No rain today (yet) but overcast and temps hot enough to touch off more afternoon/evening thundershowers. Hotter over the weekend, hopefully no more rain for a couple of days.
