Hello, I have a question I was wondering if anyone could answer.  I have my first chemo yesterday and was fine but I'm having a little problem swallowing.  I can eat but on some bit's its like my throat muscle doesn't want to work for a minute.  I asked the nurse today when I went for my booster shot and she said it would go away.  It's getting better but still happens every once in a while.  I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.  I noticed today that it was one of the things to look for on the when to call your doctor list.

Thanks, Sable

I have noticed that I choke more than I did before my chemo and radiation.  I have reflux issues and had to double up on my Aciphex.... you might ask your doctor about that possibility.

Waiting to have my second chemo treatment and have had all sorts of wierd things happen, one might be reflux issues. I try to lay down to sleep at night and find I have all sorts of aches and pains happening in my chest area. If I sit up straight for about 15 to 30 minutes it helps and I can get back to sleep. It doesn't happen during the day if I nap, only at night. The doc gave me a prescription and I'm trying it tonight. Will see what happens.

    Take care - Carol

    Carol,

I also had weird horse throat the first few days after chemo.  I also have the pains in my chest area and tightness in by chest area.  No one really explained why, but this should go away within a few days of you chemo.  I think is something to do with the chemo being in a lungs and fluid around the heart.  I found out that I should not to go to bed early the day of chemo. The longer you can stay up and let the chemo move around in your body the better off I was. I would take a nap when I got home and this always made me feel worst. My mast. chest wall also took two years to quit hurting.  I found out stretching exercises help big time.

I remember the first time I had chemo....I was up all night waiting to see what you happen to me.  Here is another strange thing that happens to me...I have hot flashes the first night and for the first couple nights I have to put a pillow under my knees for some reason it makes me uncomfortable to stretch my legs out.  Go figure...
