Hello everyone.  I am new to this site and hoping to get some input from those with experience.  My Grandmother recently had a lumpectomy, followed by a full mastectomy a couple of weeks later.  Her papers said she had LCIS (Lobular Carcenoma in Situ).   When I recearch this condition it appears only to be a risk factor for breast cancer, abnormal cell growth, but not actual cancer.  She has met with an ocologist about radiation and she meets with another oncologist about chemo next week. Our family is trying to get as much info as we can, but there are always so many questions.  Why would her diagnosis be for LCIS, rather than a specific type/stage of breast cancer?  Between the full mastectomy and possible upcoming radiation and chemo it seems extreme to me.  I don't know enough about breast cancer so I am hoping there are some of you out there that might be able to help.  Thank you and warmest regards to all of you out there,  fighting the fight.
