Grandchildren,Thank God

going through this bc and reconstruction really can get me down. When I get out of the docs office for what ever reason I'm there that day I get ahold of my daughter. She had alittle boy in december and he is a real sweetie. I find out if he is awake and if so I go visiting and get what I call is my "Hayden fix". little Mister Hayden (that is what I call him) smiles and screams and plays and it makes me feel like I'm going to be ok and I leave with a smile and a happier attitude. What brings joy to all your hearts? (I think I'll go get a Hayden fix now. I could really use his little smile to let me sleep good tonight. Can you tell I love that little guy?........Janet

You sound like a grandmother that any grandchild would wish to have.  I'm so happy for both of you!  I bet he sleeps better knowing how much you love him too.

    Janet,

I loved your story about your grandson. I love to hear my 4 year old laugh, and I love to see my 6 year old's smile. And one of the best things is the hugs that I get from my kids.

Oh, I so know what you mean!  Through all of this, 3 surgeries and now my first chemo, etc, I've stayed with my daughter's family for a day or so after each.  I swear, the grandbabies are what keep me going at times!  My 1 and 1/2 year old grandson makes me laugh even when I feel the worst, the child is a riot!  Sometimes I just have to see him in the midst of it all...getting the 'fix', as you say.

Last night I went to the salon to choose a wig and we cut off my long long hair for Locks of Love, as shortly I'll be bald.  I went to show the kids my new short hair and the little guy didn't know me at first or was in total shock, I'm not sure!  Once I started talking 'goofy gramma talk' with him he began to smile.  Then he hugged around my leg and stepped back, took another look, touched the ends of his own hair, then hugged my legs again...over and over!  I think he approves!?  ha ha.

My daughter also had a baby girl a month ago, beautiful LaRaya.   The older grandkids are 10 and 6,  they live away from here, but on a recent visit they chose wigs for gramma from the catalog.  My 6 year old grandson...."This one would be good for you gramma, but if you could get it in rainbow color would be real cool!"

The grand-babies make my day!  Love 'em all so much!

Janet...I have five grandboys, and they are WONDERFUL....I completely agree with you that grandkids can make a huge difference in how we feel.....I see my boys as often as I can...LIttle boy hugs and kisses are the BEST!!!

My daughter has fOUR of the boys...Michael...9, Alex...7, Daniel almost 5.... and two year old Andrew.  My son's boy is thirteen...

Being in my daughter's house..with all those little boiys is a joy....We play Sorry and Canyland, and I am working on Scrabble....and I get down on the floor with Andrew....Being with them makes me feel that  life is "normal", and that everything will be OK..The 13 year is busy a lot..with church activities and freinds...so I don't see him as often...but he's a gem....

    So..Go hug those babies!!!

Its been alittle while since Ive been on any site. i reread my post and now Hayden is almost 1. The older he gets the funner he  is. He is walking now but we have this game where he gets down and crawls and I crawl after him saying " Im going to get you" (my knees get rather sore really fastSmile)With the reconstrution almost done (exchange in Jan.) it will be nice to hug him tight and not feel weird where the expander is.Thank you for all your posts on this thread.  i took a break from thinking about the cancer(somewhat)and now am feeling better with life .Its amazing how many things can happen all at once.Life gets overwhelming at times but.. hey... Hi guys! I have a 2 year old granddaughter.  Nov 2007 she was climbing all over me like I was a jungle gym or something and then she jumped...right on my chest....ouch.  As I rubbed, I felt something....and as they say that was the beginning of the beginning.

That beautiful little girl saved her grandmas life I have no doubt.  She lives with me.  My daughter moved home (long story lol) about 6 months ago and not a day doesn't go by that she doesnt make me laugh and small alot.  In fact just the other day her and I had taken a bath together and she reached up and touched my scar (mastectomy left side) and said Ma your so pretty.  Wow I truly am one lucky woman, was all I could think.

    Thanks for listening.

My husband is in Iraq and I am alone most of the time. I have grown children and three of them live out of town. My oldest daughter lives near me and has given me two beautiful grandchildren,  two in a half and four.  And they are the precious gifts a grandmother could ask for.  Through them I get my strength, courage, and happiness.  If and when I'm feeling a little low I'll ask my daughter if the kids can stay with me over night and then we get down and party. They fill me life and more.  It's amazing what grandchildren can do to your over all emotions.  Thank God for little ones.Laughing
