Done with chemo, rads - now about those 10 pounds...

I didn't weigh in this week. Well I did, but forgot to do it first thing in the morning. I'm not doing well in the weight department. I need to get my act together before I balloon into something unrecognizable.
How's everyone else doing?

What happened to this thread? Are we all giving up or are people too busy actually living their lives...I hope! Every day I say this is the day I'm going to get my act together. I'm going to exercise, I'm going to eat healthy, I'm going to attempt to clean at least some of the house and everyday I waste hours on the computer and then sit around watching T.V.
My get up and go got up and went.

I'm here! I've lost 2 since we started! But now to keep it off. I'm running a lot more regular now so I'm please with myself about that!
-
Hi Jill. I'm still over what I was when I started. But I walked on Fri and Sat and am planning a walk this afternoon. Sunday I did my toning exercises so I'm getting back on track. It's so difficult. I used to be able to lose weight easily but now that I'm in menopause that's not the case. Good for you for losing 2 lbs and running. I really admire you. I've changed my walking route so that I have a couple of hills to climb...you should see me! I guess part of the reason it's hard is because Herceptin is hard on the heart but I will keep plugging away.

Oh don't get too impressed with my running! I'm not running for long periods of time - although I use to before I had Sam i was running 3-4 miles at a time. I'm doing the "Couch to 5k" program which is a lot of intervals of walking and running.
-
I ran the local Breast Cancer 5km yesterday. Had to walk a little. I am almost 10 lbs down from when chemo ended.5 lbs was all water, the rest has been a lot slower and harder to lose.
-
Good for you!!!! My plan is to run the Race or the Cure 5k. it's sounds so wimpy compared to the guy I work with that ran the Twin Cities Marathon yesterday!
-
Marathon runners are a special kind of insane. A 5k is a great way to get in shape.
-
Jill, you're doing more than I am and BTW I didn't end up going for my walk yesterday. GRRRRR! You are impressive no matter what you say.
Ellenoire, way to go! You're doing so great.

I was out of town last weekend - a girls trip to Louisville for an art fair with friends. It was fun but I missed the weigh-in. I've stayed the same since the last time.
I'm impressed by runners! I've been trying to run a little bit here and there in my walks, but it's hard! At first my port hurt when I'd run, and my surgeon said, "well, don't run then." So I gave myself 'til I finished rads (mid-September) and tried again, just tiny amounts, like 40-50 steps at a time. I'm up to 300 steps now, and I do those 3 or 4 times during a 3.5 mile walk. I know it's a good start, but it sounds so small!

I got a little side tracked after I finished rads and forgot to post here. I also am not getting weighed weekly at the rad office anymore. But I weighed myself at home this morning and I've lost two lbs. I finally made the decision to take Tamoxifen (after much emotional wrangling) and I'm happy that I'm losing weigh cause I know some people gain. Had MRI on Monday and hoping for good results! Then I can breathe for the next six months and focus a little more on this weight loss.
