Endometrial Cancer, DCIS, Colonoscopy Scheduled --PANIC
Hi girls,
I am trying to keep panic at bay! February 2006 I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had a TAH/BSO, exactly 2 years later in February 2008, DCIS. I elected to have a bilateral mastectomy since I have a family history of breast cancer along with my previous cancer. Because of these my doctor scheduled me for a Colonoscopy (I had one 10 years ago at age 50 and it was fine). I took my first two cancers in stride - never shed a tear, but just panicking over the Colonoscopy. I have been having stomach craps and vomiting every several months , but chalked that up to the hysteretomy and radiation treatments (perhaps scar tissue buildup or not getting my guts back into place just right). It was my joke that I lost my 'cast iron stomach' .
Thanks for letting me vent--I just feel that if this is a 3rd strike -- I am out.

Montanagal - you are probably right, the odds are incredibly high that this is nothing. You have had major surgery within the last 6 months; so your body is not in normal condition. Give yourself a break. We are about the same age -- this is not easy!
I also had a colonoscopy after my breast surgery, and it was emotionally very hard, Just the idea of having another cancer was almost more than I could stand. I met with the gastro doc before the exam, and we talked about how we could minimize my stress. One of the things that we did was that someone from his office called as soon as they got the pathology on the adenoma they found - I couldn't wait for a letter to come telling me it was okay.
He was very sweet about it, and did everything he could. Our doctors want to be sure we're okay, even though sometimes they feel like the enemy.
Vent all you need to - that's what we're here for,
The odds are really high that you are just fine.

I think you will be just fine... When is your colonoscopy scheduled? Try not to worry, because my SIL had symptoms like yours and she had diverticulitis and irritable bowel... she is fine.
I am going to see a gyn onc today to see about my endometrial stripe...it's THICK, and there is what looks to be 'cysts' in the lining, and the lining is 'complex'.... it sounds SCARY! I can't deal with yet ANOTHER cancer scare! How did you handle having endometrial cancer, and what treatment did you get? I am so scared!
HUGS to you! I'm praying that you'll be just fine!

my heart goes out to you girls, scary for sure, I have learned to prepare for the anxiety with help from xanax, I find it to be my best friend. I had hysterectomy 8 weeks after giving birth to my youngest (he is 24 now, I am OLD), never thought about cancer again. Then in 2003 was dx with stage 2 colon cancer, a year after that stage 1 breast cancer. However I am alive and kicking and hope the same for all. Hugs
