just finished treatment
Hi i am new to this site , I am all finished with my treatments i had 6 round of tac i am feeling just a little tired but it is good. I am going to see my ongcologist on tuesday for my recheck,im a little confused i decided to do my bilateral mastectomy before chemo so that means that you really dont know how chemo reacted to tumor.I need to know what test can be done know since i have no breast so cant do mammo and i dont know what test can be done other that a pet scan and how often. The drs oncologist and surgeion told me my left breast was a heathy breast but i decided i wanted both removed and when they disected that breast they found very little DCIS which is hormone positive my oncologist said we can think about goin on tamoxifen for the next five years. I just though i can get some feed back from woman who have been there ,i feel good and i feel i am dancing with NED ,just dont know what to ask dr on next visits because of the tri-neg ,also where the original tumor was on right breast there was dcis to i dont know if it was er/pr or hers positive i guess i should find out. I am really trying to stay positive through all of this i have a greast family and friends to support me but you know how it is you need people in your life who have been there and have years under there belt to keep those positive affirmation . Please if any one can give me some advise would be greatly appriciated .
Thanks, Michele

Congratulations on completing treatment!
I've heard of others wherre the bc changed from trip neg to hormone pos. It's also common to retest trip neg pathology, as sometimes it can be slightly hormone pos.
For many women, the tumor marker tests (CA27.29, CA15-3 and one other one) are reliable in terms of the bc being gone, stable or progressing. Is this being done for you? If not, you might ask about it.
After completing my initial treatment on my first (early stage) dx, I pushed for a CT scan, but could not get one. Knowing what I know now, I wished I had pushed harder or even just gotten one myself. Ideally, a CT scan would give you peace of mind. The doc's usually start with a CT scan and if it is questionnable, then they go to a PET scan.
Best to you,
