different Chemo's

First, thank all of you for your best wishes and prayers, and Cam and I extend the same to you. My question today is about the different Chemo that she has been switched to.  She had gone thru 5 treatments of  TAC plus Avastin but doc not pleased with results on skin mets, so switched to Gemzar and Paraplatin (carboplatin) plus Avastin and skin mets seem to be diminishing, after 2 treatments.  Has anybody else tried the Gemzar/Paraplatin/Avastin,  She has had more nausea, more tiredness, and a white blood count of 17.5.  But is good to see the red rash go away.

Thank you again, and Tender asked what can you do for us, How about doing MD Anderson's Moto. 'let's make cancer history'  It would be nice for my grandchildren to read about how bad a thing cancer was.

I do not know anything about Avastin however I was given Gemzar and Carboplatin for my second round of chemo.The problems that I had with these two chemos were that  I could not get rid of the nausea feeling and my WBC went down. When my WBC were low my onc cut down the amount of gemar and carboplatin and I was also give nulasta to help bring up my white blood count. With this chemo combo I did sleep more.

I don't know much about those chemos, as I have never been on them, however I have a question for you.  What do her skin mets look like?  Are they red bumpy and itchy?  I am worried that this is what I am developing, but can't find a whole lot of info out there about it.

Her rash was a bright red two inch band that extended above her breast, they were bumpy and itchy, before her dx, the Dr thought they were contact dementitis and gave topic steroids.  After treatment, they go away and come back less dense but more spread, still in a band.  Looks like many (chigger) bug bites with red in between.  New chemo seems to be working.

It is now at the point I have to give Cam a set of Madi Gras beads every day to look at her breast to keep a journal of progress.

I had this chemo combo almost three years ago.  I have a very aggressive triple neg that has not responded well to chemo.  I did get a response to this combo.  I had no disease on the chest wall until last month. (2/12 years) And now it's back...I started this combo again, but now I have to drop the carbo do to advance neuropathy not related to this set of chemo's but another.  Now Gemzar, Avastin & Xeloda.
