My wife, Cam,  has Bilateral IBC triple neg.  She also has "unassociated Ovarian Cancer" I Know cancer is wierd, but this seems odd.  I have not seen post about  near simutanious Bilateral IBC as a primary.

She was first dx in Feb 08,  with ibc and  only dx with ovarian after pet scan staging for the bc.   Staged at IV due to superclavical, and right axillary nodes, skin tumors and both breast,   For the past two and half years before dx, she had five breast MRI's of both breast, four mammograms, and four U S's of breast.  She had pelvic US and transvaginal US  as well as MRI and CT of pelvic in 06 and told she had benign cyst of ovary no follow up needed.  That was when cyst was 4 cm, .at staging in 08 it was 11 cm.  By the way she had punch biopsy in Oct 07 told neg for cancer, later reread showing IBC,

The question,  anybody here that has bilateral ibc or has a not associated ovarian with it.  Cam is  taking this whole cancer thing much better than I am, she is more worried about the young mothers she sees with this stuff than she is for herself.   Bless all you ladies, you are stronger and braver than any man.

No one should have to have so much going on.  Tell her sometimes the weirder are story's are, the the more the doctor's want to know more about you.  I know... I'm one of the weird ones.Smile

I did talk online with a lady a few months ago who had very early bc and they caught very early ovarian.  Believe it or not she treated herself naturally and was healed.  Again this was very early diagnoses for both.

I have bilatral IBC right now.  I also had IBC two years ago that was not bil. IBC.  I had IBC on one side and regular bc on the other.

Was your wife tested for Bra1 or Brac2 Gene?  I believe women who test positive for (One higher that the other, I don't remember) these do have a higher rate for ovarian.

I sure one of the other ladies will be by who have had to go through this also will come along.  Tell her to hang in there, and we are here if she needs us.

    ibcspouse:

In July 2004 I was dx with IBC however it was only in one breast.  The rest of the story is long.  Prior to having a complete hysterectomy I was told by my gyn that I had a higher risk for ovarian & uterine cancer.

Keeping you and Cam in my prays

    Hugs

My colleagues wife had bilateral breast cancer as well as ovarian cancer. When he told me I had never heard of this and was floored. It would seem to be more likely associated with the BRACA gene (or other) state, presenting in both breast and ovary.

My question is how can we help you and your wife? As FlaLady said, no one should have to endure such news and therapy alone. Is there any way we might lend a hand, other than our usual good thoughts and hopes for her and you?

I read she is being treated at MD Anderson; this has some of the world's experts on IBC and great minds. If she enrolls in one of their many trials, some urging that you accompany her at least at the beginning to ensure right hand knows what left hand is doing. One of our lovely ladies did not find that to be the case at all times. And it's that "at all times" which keeps communication, QOL, and reduced error going forth.

I'm so glad you found us and hope you become a regular poster as your wife and you proceed through treatments.

We ladies are a strong bunch, and thank you for affirming this. We have men here with BC who are equally strong. And then we have husbands such as yourself, who honor their wife through their thoughtfulness, concern and love.

Fortitude and good wishes to you both,
    Tender
