Another such database is http://www.ewg.org. Look at the right navigator link to Skin Deep. I bought some expensive face cream from, of all places, Whole Foods, that is rated 6/10 for carcinogens. Of course, I didn't look it up before purchasing. Now hoping they'll take it back.

Wow, what an eye-opener, at both websites. Thanks!

Thank you very much, very good information to have.

Yes, the www.cosmeticsdatabase.com is wonderfull. After learning about his data base, I learned that it doesn't matter where you purchase the products you 1st have to check them out.
I too purchased a sunless tanner at Wholefoods and it was an 8 on the hazard scale! I gave it back ofcourse. It's probably safer to get a tan at that rate
. You should check out sunscreens, they're pretty toxic too and they don't offer protection as they claim. There is excellent information about sunscreens on the above website. Since then I only use Badger sunscreen which is a #2 on the hazard scale but also $15 for a small tube but it does go a long way and it's one of the cheaper ones that is also safe and offers excellent protection.Liz
