Well my subject pretty much sums up why I am here. My mother was diagonosed with Stage 4 Metas. Breast Cancer and it's been a longgg road and we thought there would someday be an end, just not this kind of ending. My mom has been on 10 different chemos within the 4 years and now her oncologist just told her he thinks there's nothing else he can do to help her and that because she has been on 10 different chemos she won't be on chemo anymore. She wasn't sure if he was just having an off day or if he is just frustrated with her case or what to think, but she was very upset regardless and so is the rest of the family. Anyone ever hear of similar situations? I am at a loss as what to do now...

Where are her mets? How about a clinical trial?  If he is truly giving up on her, I would get a second opinion. My sister was just diagnosed in November so we are just starting in this journey.  I would not give up on your mom just yet. Has she been going to the same doctor for the past 4 yrs?    Don't give up hope...  Definately get another opinion for your mom.

Hello. My mom was diagnosed 3 years ago with Stage 4 as well. She's been on 4 different chemos, radiation, has had brain surgery and even had her ovaries out. We just found out that it's back in her brain/spinal area. So, I feel your frustration. Fortunately, she is going to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment, but the doctors there are also running out of ideas. She was involved with a vaccine a couple years ago, but I'm sorry I can't recall the name. I am in touch with folks at Hopkins and the American Cancer Society to try and find out what else can be done. It is quite frustrating when the doctors don't really know what to do next. One suggestion we got was to contact the folks at Sloan Kettering Center in NY. They have many different trials going on as well. But like was previously said, don't give up and make sure you and your family are living each day to the fullest!

Good eveningSmile I can only imagine what you and your family have been going through.  My family is going through that right now with my Stage 4 diagnoses from last Sept.  I'm sure the doctors are frustrated if they have tried as many chemos as you indicated. My doctor told me last week that I will be on chemo the rest of my life. Ok...bring it!  Your mom has been on a roller coaster with her care and is probably trying to keep srong for all of you.  Loved ones are never here long enough.  Give your mom the support she needs, especially knowing that her family loves her and GET ALL OF THE SUPPORT YOU CAN FOR YOURSELF.  I have found enormous strength through talking to people and lots and lots of prayers are out there for all of us.  Trust your faith and treasure all of the time you have with your family.  Your mother may be miraculously healed and you will know who to thank.  Don't be afraid to tell Him what you WANT.  I do all of the time and I have faith that the doctors will be astonished at the outcome!   We are all here for you and many prayers are coming your way.
