Vitamin D still low

Options

I have been taking vitamin 5,000 units of D3 for months but my test showed low again. My doctor's wife also had low D with osteopenia and he had to give her Vitamin D3 shots to bring her D levels up. She got rid of her osteopenia with that alone!

I am switching back to the emulsified Vitamin D in hopes it will absorb better. D has research been proven such a big deal for breast and colon cancers. I know you can get some D from the sun but in the Northeast we only get three months real sun and I work indoors 8 hours a day.

If it makes you feel better, I have been taking Vit D with cal/mag for over 5yrs and my levels are still low. Why...no one knows.    I also live in the northeast (CT) and used to go out in the sun alot untill this summer when I got skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma) so now I'm afraid of the sun Yell. My naturalpath put me on another form of vit. D now so may be that will help.

What kind of test do you get for this?  I live in south texas and like to think my vitamin d levels are fine, but I'm just guessing.

A couple of years after my initial DX my Vit D levels were low in a blood test, so my doc gave me mega pills for about a month..now I take VitD3 capsules every day with my Calcium and my Fosamax has Vit D in them too...

I was just told by onc. he wants to do a Vit D level test on me.  I do take liquid D every day.  But now I wonder since so many of you are low still....maybe I am too.
