I was diagnoses with ILC 2 week ago and had my first chemo (TAC) 10 days ago. Now the backs my hands are covered with really itchy tiny blisters. They are driving me batty. Cold water works for about five minutes and applying benadryl has not helped too much. Does anyone know what this is and what I can do to make it STOP ITCHING!!! Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Sarah,

You may want to try Auqaphor.  I didn't get the itchy skin during chemo but I did during radiation and the Auqaphor helped a lot.  You should be able to get it at any local drugstore.  I hope this helps.  I am sure there will be other people on soon to give you other ideas just in case it doesn't.  Good luck with the chemo.  I also had TAC, 6 treatments.  If you ever have any other questions please feel free to PM me.  Take care of yourself.

It's probably the Taxotere.  I'm currently 10 days out from my 2nd treatment of TC and yesterday got those itchy hives all over the place.  My onc's office ended up calling in a prescription for a Medrol steroid pack to help calm it down....I still have whelps, bumps and swelling in random locations--and ITCHING, but I think it's slowly getting better.  They told me to take oral Benadryl, which also helps minimally, but I haven't found anything yet to really knock them back!  If you have some tea tree oil, that's worked better for me than hydrocortisone cream or anything else (it's a little smelly, though).

Thanks ladies. First I'll pick up the Auqophor and if I don't have any luck, I'll get a prescription. I have another question. How do you post your diagnosis stuff? How do you post a photo. My daughter did a bang up job cutting my hair.  Now I look like an artist.
