A big hello to all the ladies/gents who are living in the "Wonders of the World."  Im came home and Im so tired tonight.  Just not feeling up to par.  I came here and just relaxed and when I saw the dragon which I prefer to call the lockness monster posted by Sheri I just laughed and laughed.

This is a fun thread and I hope we have a chance to get to know each other better.  My pictures are never real - they are in my imagination.

Margo, we stayed at a time share resort about 10 minutes from Disney.  We really like it, there are things for the kids to do.  We didn't actually visit Disney itself this time, but Downtown Disney is free and it's really pretty cool.  One of our favorite places is the Lego store.

I'm still getting the hang of the picture thing.  We stayed at a resort just a few miles from Disney.  We didn't go to the park itself, this trip, but really enjoyed Downtown Disney.  Our favorite store is the Lego store.

Legoland?  Hahaha I thought that only existed on the Simpsons. 

If you had a choice, where would you like to see a fireworks display?  I need to thik about this for a bit.

For years when we had a boat, we would go to an area  of miles of waterways in central CA  called the Delta.  One of the areas we went to was called Mandeville Island.  The Hilton family (yes, those Hiltons) had a house on the point and would bring in a barge and you'd see helicopters bringing in people.  This was a party time, we would out a day or two early and find a spot to anchor our boat and most people were out there for a week.  There were so many boats out there you literally could walk across and never touch the water.  When it got dark, the music on the barge would start and by the time the fireworks started people were amped up.  Fireworks went on for an hour synchronized to the music and when it was over, the helicopters would start flying people out and the boats would start leaving.

Blue:  The Dominican Republic looks delightful!  A beautiful day by the sea.

I'm still thinking about where I would like to be for fireworks if I made a wish and it came through.  I think seeing them by the Stature of Liberty would be cool.  Or over the State Capital.   But then I think right here in Chicago, I could go out on the Lake and watch them from there.  Hmmm so many decisions to make.

Well reality sinks in.  We are under a tornado warning - so Im hitting the closet.

I'll wave to you, with the other two million or so tonight. I have been on my husband for years to see the fireworks from the lake. This year I told him we are going no matter how much he complains about the crowds. So I booked a ticket on a Shoreline boat and we will get to see the Chicago fireworks for once. Well, we accidently saw them when we were young and went out to dinner on the third, not realizing that it was fireworks night in Chicago. We got stuck in traffic on Lake Shore Drive, which was perfect. We saw the show and then just drove home before every one could get to their cars. Perfect timing for a couple of dumb youngun's. Oh to be that carefree again!

We did see them in Washington one year. We have family there. The fireworks were a bit disappointing because no one would listen to me about claiming a seat on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, so we got stuck in a low spot near the Wash. Monument and did not see everything very well. Plus, we sat by some idiot who was whistling in our ears, nonstop. Is this a tradition there? I am use to the ooo and aahs!

I am enjoying all of your photos. What a beautiful world we live in!

Someday I will take the time to figure out how to share with you all, my photos of France. If anyone is interested, I would be willing to act as a tour guide if some of you have dreams of Paris. Because of my job, I have visited a few times, but I never get tired of the City of Light. And don't get me started on Provence.

This is Canyon de Chelly (pronounced "shay") in Arizona near the four corners region.

The Anasazi Indians built their cities in the cliffs. 

They are the ancestors of the Navajo in AZ and the Pueblo in CO.

This was our transportation through the canyon. 

It took about two hours in and another two back out of the canyon. 

That April morning it was about 40 degrees out. 

For the return trip, my sister and I gave the driver $20 to let us ride up front with him. 

He made his partner ride in the back!!

Sunrise at Cape Cod.  I havent been many places, but I have been to Cape Cod.  Drove to the very tip and looked at the world and ocean surrounding me.  That was many years ago - but I will never forget its beauty.

Linda:  What a wonderful night you must have had yesterday.  Viewing the fireworks out on Lake Michigan from the Chicago shoreline must have been awesome.  I thought about you last night as it was a bit chilly and the winds were coming from the northeast.  Bet good old Lake Michigan had some waves and choppy waters.  Hope you had some fun.

Bren:  Those pictures are awesome.  The buildings look so small, yet magnificent.

Blue:  Good to see you.  Hoping your feeling better today.  Havent decided where I want to go from Cape Cod - some place nice and warm, with a warm ocean breeze!

SoCal:  You are right.  How could we forget Maine.  Makes me want to have some lobster tonight. 

Margo:  So what did you end up doing yesterday, or what do you have planned for today?

Living in Illinois all of my life, I havent had much chance to see many Wonders of the World.  We have lots of beaches here - but no mountains.  Goodness I get excited when I see a big hill.

One of the few places I have been to is Las Vegas.  We were staying at the Luxor when it first opened its doors.  We had a wonderful view of the mountains and I remember watching the sunrise and sunset - how the colors of those mountains turned bright orange.  Thats about how close I have ever been to a mountain.  From a view!

I did my fair share of walking the beaches, swimming the seas, fishing in our great lakes, and surfing along the California and Hawaiin coast.  When I saw the picture of the Smoky Mountains I thought to myself what a wonderful place.  Quiet, serene, peaceful.  Walking along a trail or a path - and just thinking about life.  No wonder when some people retire, they get a house trailer and travel across this country.  So much beauty to see.
