I don't post a lot of stuff around here, but since I've discovered the site last week I've been around a lot to read all of the threads. I can't tell you how much comfort reading all of the posts here has given me. My grandma is going through treatment (she is Her2+, had a double mastectomy in March, takes Tamoxifen daily, and Herceptin every 3 weeks) and I've had a really hard time dealing with it--I love her more than she could ever know and seeing her in so much pain hurts me, but then I get angry and think about how she might not be there when I graduate from college, when I get married, etc...and then I feel guilty for being so selfish, and it goes on and on. My family is really closed off in general and nobody talks about the "Big C", which is frustrating because I'm the total opposite (hmm....maybe that's why I'm in school to be a therapist, who knows); it's been like that with all three cancer diagnoses in our family. Anyways, I had started to feel really alone and emotional about everything because I had nobody to talk to (the only person I felt would understand is my best friend and she is across the Atlantic right now) and I discovered all of you. Realistically, I knew I wasn't the only one in the world who felt emotional/was hurting about a family member's cancer, but it gosh darn felt like it. So, thank you all so much for helping me to feel understood and to see that it's healthy to have some emotions, and it's okay to cry, I really appreciate it and I'll be hanging around!
