I'm checking in from Kim's August chemo group. We'd been worried about her b/c we hadn't heard from her in 3 weeks. One of our chemo girls tracked down her family and spoke with her SIL, and Kim is not doing well at all. It wasn't clear if she's on hospice or not, but she was too ill to travel to MD Anderson for her scheduled appointment with Dr. C and for chemo the first week in June.

I know Kim posted over here on the IBC board, so I wanted to relay the information to her sisters over here. Frown

Prayers for comfort, painfree rest, prayers for dreams where disease is at rest, may gentle light embrace you, and soft lyrics play, may you feel your sisters support as you go through the day.

I have another update today on Kim. She went on hospice yesterday (6/23). Her SIL said she is in a lot of pain, and only has a few lucid moments. Hopefully hospice can make her comfortable. She is continuing to take Xeloda, but it doesn't seem to be helping at all.

Kim is too ill to use the computer, but I do have a physical address for her where one can write snail mail. If anyone would like to send her a card or a note, PM me, and I can give you the address.

I usually correspond with Kim on the ibcsupport board but we haven't heard from her lately so I checked out this website because I noticed she posted here, too.  I have been concerned and she hasn't answered my email and now I understand why.  I would love to have her address to send her a card if she wouldn't mind.  Do you think she would mind if I updated the ladies from the ibcsupport group on her condition?  I go to Dr. C also.  She started in January and I started in February and she has been so supportive.

bks, I just PM'd you with the address. And I think it's a good idea to update the ibcsupport girls, too.

I told Kim's SIL to expect a slew of greeting cards (the address I'm giving out is her business address, and her SIL is manning the fort there right now), and her SIL sounded very pleased, and said she would read the cards to Kim.

I just tried to PM a reply to you, but not sure it worked.  Anyway, thank you for sending the address.  I have updated our ibc support group.  I'll keep checking for updates.

I am sorry to report that Kim passed away at 2 am on July 4th. Her SIL said the 4th was her favorite holiday.

Prayers to the family. Kim was too young, and this went too fast. Life isn't fair.

I second Deb C.  I will not give up hope for a cure or NED as if there is anyone who put up a good fight to the end, it was Kim.  I send my prayers to Kim and her family as well.  My journey with this beast started 1 year ago this week and Kim was one of the first posters I followed since we share the same diagnosis.  God Bless you Kim and thank you Nash for keeping up posted.
