Dear friends, I haven't been on the boards for quite awhile. I did go on my trip my sister drove me and it was wonderful to see all of my old friends. They were also doing a Cancer Relay in Red Lake and I was asked if I would speak after the dinner to the survivors so I thought it would be to 22 people well it was about 700 or more people but I did it. I didn't write a speech as I thought why bother for other survivors they will know most of what I'm saying so I spoke from the heart and the whole gymnasian was in tears. I too started choking up at first but leaned on the music book stand and it started to slide down so I was bent right over it was so hilarious to me that I was able to start laughing and then said " Okay this is not what I planned and then began my talk. It mostly covered how lucky they were to be in a small town because there dr's know them, it covered the survivor verses, fighter, and included people still in shock and denial and then the big one, to keep fighting, try cancer trials do anything to save your life until you have tried everything you can manage, then to accept it if you can't fight anymore or live your life without the fear. And I'm still afraid so I sort of lied at that but they were so motivated it's just a small town of 2500 another close town of 2000 two more of about 400 people and they raised
68 thousand dollars last year they raised 89 thousand for a small town they are very motivated and watch where the money goes so closely so per capita Red Lake raises more than any town in Canada. They paid for 189 flights for Cancer patients and there stays in cities as they are at the end of the road in NW Ontario. The air was so clean the skies so blue, I revelled in the freshness and actually have a sun tan even with sunscreen on my face and I feel healthy and motivated to fight now tooth and nail, pun intended.
Otter I finally got my pathology report and was told that I am on the cusp for Her 2 positive but they say I'm still triple negative I have to send you a copy of the reports because the genetist said I may have to have both breasts removed and my ovaries so I need advice on that front but Otter I have to send it through my sons computer as mine doesn't accept pdf files anymore. My bowels are doing better, before I left for my holidays I was so afraid my sister would cancel the trip I unplugged the phone and did nothing but relax and try poop but with the trip I relax and can proudly say I going daily now, it's far from normal but I'm going finally. Next week is my endo and colonoscopy and my sister thinks as do I that they will probably cut out the bowel problem right there and then and I hope they do as well I'm scared but really think it will help me so much if they do and I'm hoping that I will end up eating healthier and it will be bettere all around.
My thoughts were with all of you on my trip the trees, the skies, made me pray so hard for all of us over and over again ladies.
I love you all and missed you and am happy to be on board again.
Big hugs and love, Snowy

So HAPPY to see your post and to hear all is well, Snowy!

Oh, Snowy, you don't know how glad I am (we all are) to hear from you! We were all hoping your time off-line was due to a fabulous trip with your sister and some relaxing experiences away from BC (and that's not British Columbia!). I've been lurking on the triple-negative board, just hoping you would return.
I would be happy to take a look at your reports and see what I can figure out. I'm not sure you can send a pdf file in a pm using the BCO system. If you want to send me the reports electronically (pdf) instead of posting the information here as text, send me a pm and I'll send you my email address.
Your trip, and especially your presentation to the survivors' group in Red Lake, must have been very uplifting for you. I don't know what else to say, except that it sounds like things are improving for you, which is what we all wanted to hear.
Big hugs,
otter

Snowy,
SO glad to hear from you!! I'm glad that you are doing better, if even just a little bit.
That is how I feel about my depression... I'll take even a little bit of improvement! How brave of you, to speak in front of all those women!! Good for you, girl! I would have been hiding under the podium!!
Good luck with the colonoscopy...that prep should really get you going!! Let us know what they find out.Hugs

Snowday.....glad to hear you got away and had a good trip with your sister. I'm sure the getting away did you a world of good and I'm proud of you to hear you spoke in front of that many people. I was just at one myself. Any how, I'm relieved to hear your back and things are going better for you. Viv

Yeah, Pearl -- your back! So good to hear you had a fine time and wowed everyone up there in the frozen north (hah!). As you know by now, we've all been keeping an eye on the boards, waiting for your triumphant return. Can I have your autograph now that you're a celebrated public speaker?
Love,
Annie
