I have been googling hair extensions. Once our hair fills in on top and the bangs come in there are lots of choices. Some are clip on and some go on like a headband. I just want to be feminine again 😖

I find that it's important to me to stay in a "positive" place as much as I can. If drama or dissension erupts, even at the pottery studio, I just quietly remove myself from the negativity (literally, I just leave the room.) I have no tolerance for those worrying or complaining about the little things. Priorities really do change.

I find I still put family first, but am getting much better at realizing my limitations especially with energy and physical stamina. I'm also better at saying no to something that really doesn't appeal to me. I love seeing friends and family, but have gotten much better at saying "not today" if it just isn't good for me that day.

And of course I've given myself permission to completely immerse myself in pottery and art. I find it allows me to completely forget about anything else going on, and the tactile feel of the clay and being able to create something really lifts my spirits.

I'll post a couple of pics below.

Also yesterday was my first professional color and cut at my salon. The color is good, the cut a little short (she trimmed the sides before I could stop her.) but I'm just going along with whatever. I wear the wig i I feel like it and don't if I don't!

So here are a couple of my pots, and my hair right before the haircut (my hairdresser said she's seen it take up to 2 years to grow hair back to pre BC length. My bangs have not grown even a fraction of an inch in 6 weeks.)

Dara: Wow lovely hairstyle! And I like your pots a lot! Well ladies, I finished my first chemo session heading home. I'll update my experiences. I appreciated having the tips and the experiences of others to help me prepare my chemo tote! I'm nervous about Neulasta and the accompanying bone pain. I already have pain from AS (ankylosing spondylitis) and have been off my meds for two months now. Sigh...

I asked m husband to pull my hair thru a frosting cap and then we applied a soft black Nice & Easy color. I left it own for about 8 to 10 minutes. It was just enough to take the snow white out and show the silver with black highlights..

I have never had black, curly hair.

Dara-I love your pottery. I think that is a great way to temporarily be out of this world for a while and into your art world. I think your hair looks great!!

Question? Everyone tells me " oh your hair grew so fast,it will come back really fast" only 3 weeks PFC from Taxol.

Is this true? Did any of you have fast growing hair and it grew fast PFC

Danix5 - everyone is different.  You need to consider the type of chemo that you had, your age, your pre-chemo growth rate, and any post-chemo medications that you are taking.  For me, I should have been a "fast grower" based on my age and pre-chemo growth rate.  However, things are growing rather slowly for me, thanks to DD AC + DD Taxol, as well as the Femera and Ibrance drugs that I am taking which both have SE's of hair thinning and hair loss. 

If patience is not your strong suit, then cancer will be a tough teacher!

Here is a picture of my hair after I "frosted" it with the Nice & Easy soft black.

My husband pulled my hair thru a frosting cap and then we colored it.

This picture is taken by my husband standing over my head. As you can tell, most of the snow white hair is gone but the silver remains with the black coloring.

My last chemo was early December and since then I have been on Herceptin only. I used gel caps so I lost less than 40% of my hair.

It has, however, changed to waves, curls, and really thicker than before.

He has had practice as he pulled my hair thru a cap when it was brown and I had blond highlights.

It felt so normal to do this again even if the color was different.

is anyone using a non toxic hair color. I'm 45 and almost all gray as it comes back in. Wanted to see if I could do henna but thinking it will not over gray!

Scaredashell- I have been using the root touch up kits. Gentle, takes ten minutes and just enough color for the amount of hair I have. Henna made my hair orange

I just found this topic. I love all the hair pics!! My hair started growing back about 6 weeks into my Taxol treatments. I'm 51. It was a darker blonde but has grown back in salt and pepper. Is this my permanent color?? Actually the light hair almost looks transparent not even grey. I just finished my last chemo 6 days ago. I don't wear a wig,just scarfs when I go out. I'm hoping I'll be able to go without scarfs by the end summer. You ladies give me hope.

Wow on all the pretty hair pictures! My last chemo was Sept 20 and I didn't notice even any stubble until early December. I really worried at first that I would be in the no grow group. Even now my hair is shorter than some of the pictures I am seeing. It came back salt and pepper and I was a little disappointed. I prided myself on my long white hair that had just a little "pepper" in it. People were always calling it silver and until my first treatment my hair was almost all the way down my back. I am just pleased to have hair again and the chemo curls in the back are kinda fun. Prior to losing my hair complete strangers used to come up to me and comment on the hair. Oh well....in the balance of things I figured the hair loss was a tiny price to be for life. :-) Now people who haven't seen me since last year ( I work in a college) are complimenting me on the new short pixie style. Several folks have told me it makes me look younger (I am 62) so I may just keep it shorter.

I SKYPEd with my mom (shes' 90) on Monday and she thought I had gotten a perm. She said she loves the look on me although she cried when the long hair went away. Awwwww

Here is the recipe from my barber for helping to restore hair:

1 cup coconut oil

1 cup jojoba oil

1/2 cup castor oil.

I apply this all over my head and thru my hair at night.I use it on my lashes and brows also.

From Amazon I purchased Jojoba Oil Golden Organic 100% Pure 16 Oz by Dr Adorable.

I use plain castor oil.I have read that black castor oil works well also.

For shampoo, I use: Redken Cerafill Retaliate Shampoo For Advanced Thinning

Hi all,

First time posting, although a while reading everyone's posts. I am just over 2 months post AC and Taxol and have about 1cm maybe growth all over, although you can still see my scalp as its still thin. Im hating the grey/ white parts though, so I bought a No Limits colour in dark brown, as it has no ammonia or peroxide in it, just a straight colour. I'm just bit nervous that my scalp will be dyed brown too though? Anyone any experience with this? I don't want to look like an action man head!

I'm posting this update as information for those that will come after me. I had AC then weekly taxol. My hair started growing back so well on taxol I thought I'd be wig free soon after finishing it. When my hair started coming out about two weeks after I finished, and kept thinning for about three weeks I was devastated, and left looking like a man with a very receding hairline. I am now about 6 and 1/2 weeks post taxol and I can see lots of tiny fine micro hairs starting to come through on my head. I also have the beginnings of eyebrows after pretty much losing them all about 4 weeks after taxol ended. So despite my terror it looks like it is coming back (fingers crossed) and all that talk about 'it takes time' and 'everyone is different' ( which is the last thing I want to hear!) seems to be true for me at least. Mind you it still can't grow quick enough. Best wishes to you all out there

Diana--your hair looks great!! It's grown a lot!! Good for you. I'll post my hair photos soon. In the most recent ones it is pretty messy. Kind of out of control in the humidity on our vacation. But I never thought I'd be happy to have messy hair. At least there is hair to get messed up. LOL
