Lalen, same thing happened to me and my grandson. I was having a hot flash so I took my wig off, as I always do, my grandson looked up at me and did a double take and just said "put your hair back on grammy". He had not seen me without my wig, and was only about 4 as well, so I guess I shocked him, my bad.

Eileenohio My friend has been using: DS Laboratories. Shampoo, conditioner and the spectral.
Also the women at my hair dresser's salon (he's the manager). Swear by the Revita products. He was so impressed that he started using it too (and he's usually very skeptical but it comes with a money back guarantee).

Hi...I am new on here. I started Taxol 3 weeks ago, was suppose to do my 4th treatment today but was canceled due to some side effects. I was wondering if any one else has taken the same and when their hair came out? Mine is still intact....expected it to start coming out already but hasnt yet.

Amanda, my oncologist told me my hair would start coming out 2 1/2 weeks after my first Taxotere treatment and she was exactly right! I got my chemo treatments every 3 weeks and had to wear a turban-type scarf to my 2nd treatment. I still had enough hair on top to comb forward (kind of like a "comb-over"!) and used the hair as bangs sticking out of my scarf. It finally got so "mangy" looking that we took an electric razor and buzzed it down to about 1" long. I never completely lost ALL of my hair, but about 95%. It was a very sad time to be able to just pull clumps of hair out. It was worse for me to lose my hair than my breast. Our hair is so much apart of who we are as women, but know that it does grow back. I bought a very nice wig for $300 that looked so close to my own hair that you could not tell it was a wig unless you knew what was going on with me. It sure shortened my gettting ready time! My hair is now about 1 1/2" long, very thick and very wavy. I have been a blonde all my life and now my hair is a deep dark brown!!! I am still wearing my wig outside of the house because as my granddaughter said, "Grandma, you look like a man!" Keep the faith! You will get through this!

My hair is just crazy curly. I found a product to control it so I can comb it back at the side of my head rather then go Afro chic. It's called M.O.P.(modern organic products) Curl Enhancing System. Make sure you get the right one. It's in a 5.1 ounce pump. I love it... I'm just letting it grow. I reversed it out in February and haven't touched it since. Luckily I wasn't grey before, but I dyed my hair wine coed for many years just for fun. Now I'm just letting grow... Impatiently! 10/10/12 was my last treatment. I've been dog biotin all along too. Damn curls make it look shorter. And I think it's a little thicker too!

I lost about 85% of my hair after the first T/C infusion. In the last week or so there hasn't been any fall.
Does hair continue to come out over the course of treatment?
Thanks!

ForMyGrandaughter,
My hair started falling out after first T/C...didn't lose it all, but thinned out a lot.
Then it stopped falling out, until final treatment, now it is coming out again, slower. Also started losing my eyelashes...I am almost 8 weeks DONE with chemo and started losing eyelashes! Each person has different reactions.

ForMyGranddaughter, once it started falling out, my hair was gone within 2 weeks. Once it was gone, I could actually feel fuzz growing back by my 5th Taxotere treatment. (I had chemo every 3 weeks) I kept most of my eyelashes until 1/2 way through, then I lost almost all of them. They are starting to grow back, but VERY slowly.
-
I never lost 100% of my hair. I had these long strands all along my hairline. They never fell out but when the new hair came in they broke off. Never lost lashes or brows. 4 tax cytoxin and taxotere

What does biotin do? My hair is coming in nicely. Last chemo was in June and its fairly thick. I just colored it since I hated the salt and pepper look but other tch than that its a crew cut. I'm alternating between kerastase and Aragon oil from my hair dresser and it seems to work. Not long but feels thick & full. I bought the biotin but haven't taken it yet since I'm not sure what its for. Thx for any info

I have one piece of hair on my right temple that never fell out. It was strange how it just held on. I started getting a fuzz of hair during Taxol and now everything has finally evened out and I have about 1/4 inch of fuzz all over. And it seems to be growing! It is filling in surprisingly fast. Interestingly, my last round of Taxol last week completely took out my eyebrows and most of my eyelashes. Bummer.
It is really strange how this works. -

My eyebrows and eyelashes fell out after my last chemo. I was totally unprepared for that. However now that its over everything is coming back Last chemo tch treatment was June good luck -
Seen u should see growth soon take pics once a month it helps u see the progress
My hair did grow fast but only a little faster than normal its been 3 years now
Biotin helps hair a nail health and growth . Take it when chemo is over I can tell when I don't take it my hair a nails get thin -
My hair started to really fall out just after 14 days from my first chemo. It was 98% gone by the 2nd chemo (mine were three weeks apart). I kept most of my eyebrows until just before the last treatment. I had a total of 6. The eyebrows and eyelashes all came of at the same time. I had maybe 3 or 4 eyebrow hairs left on each side but 0 lashes. I used Anastasia brow kit from Sephora. It was expensive but worked wonders. You couldn't tell I was brow less. I tried false eyelashes but that didnt work at all for me.
Now, 12 weeks PFC, I have 2" of thick full hair, all of my eyebrows and very thick but still short eyelashes. I had laser hair removal on my face and nether regions just a few months before chemo but when my hair started growing back it came back everywhere even the treated areas. -
I make an Herbal Scalp + Hair Butter with KGF. I am not here to promote my products, as I am receiving chemo and lost 85% of my hair. I will have my third T/C infusion on 9/20. So far my lashes and brows are still in.

Can anyone tell me how long your wigs took to come in if you ordered them online? I ordered wigs from vogue wigs and wilshire wigs and a halo and hat fromTLC. I have not gotten shipment info that any of them have even shipped! I am getting nervous that they will ot arrive in time. There are no wig stores anywhere around and the local Cancer Society inly had wigs that were nothing like I would ever wear... most were gray, and all were very short poofy styles. I am 43, not gray, and not a poofy hair girl.
-
Can you contact them on line? Or track on line? I hated my wig, hot and itchey. Just wore a baseball hat that had NO hair day on it. Or went topless.
-
I ordered a few from Vogue. It took about a week. They are good about answering emails. I think you can just call them too... Good luck!!!
-
They said a week and my stuff arrived in 5 days!!!

My hair is anywhere from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch -it also seems to have a mind of its own -growing in all different directions.. is everyone elses hair growing back like that?
-
Yep, mine was like that. Had chemo curls on one side only. The original fuzz kept getting longer, I could feel stubbly new growth coming in. I let the first fuzz go as long as I could stand it, the got it cut.
I didn't go to Fantastic SAMs or some place that hires people fresh out of school. I wanted somebody who had been in the business forever, had experience with chemo hair. I think it made a difference. -
Mine is growing in bone straight and is trying to lay the opposite way. Its about 1/2 inch long right now at 12 weeks PFC. Not quite long enough to style yet...
-
I want to go to my hair-stylist but am not sure there is enough hair for even him to be able to fix it..
-
I went to my hair salon as soon as I had complete coverage, kind of a gi jane look. I had hiem go thru and even things out a bit. I beleive it made a big difference in how it grew in. I didnt cut again for a year after that.
-
IamNancy yes go to the hair salon. You will feel a lot better. A small trim will even out your hair and it will start to look a little more normal.
-
I created a Herbal Scalp + Hair Butter. It contains many Ayurvedic herbs that are know to grow hair. It also contains KGF (a growth factor) and other natural scalp + hair loving herbs. Before + during chemo I still use it, even though I don't have hair on my head. Since creating it I put it on my lashes + brows and have seen growth.
I'd love for you to try it at a 15% discount. All I ask in return is that you give me honest feedback on my site.
If you're interested, go to my on-line store @ http://www.shop.jlexi.co/Herbal-Scalp-Hair-Butter-with-KGF-HSHBKGF.htm. Use the Code BCGROUP + get 15% off your entire order.
BE well!

It's been awhile since I posted on this thread. Two years since chemo, hard to believe it's been that long and I keep very busy with life, so I seldom even take time to reflect on that particular time, altho I do think about bc every day.
My hair is about the same as before chemo. My eyelashes and brows have remained sparse. I got Latisse for the eyelashes and when I remember to use it on a regular basis, the lashes get very long.
Several months ago I bought a quality waterproof eyebrow pencil, but it didnt' seem to have much staying power. Then I purchased some loose mineral powder for my face and realized that if I brushed it over the penciled in brows they seemed to last longer.
And then, one day I was plucking my eyebrows using one of those powerful little magnifying mirrors, and I noticed my brows were actually a wee bit higher than I had been penciling them in. I could see small, lighter hairs above where I'd been penciling in. I think in losing the brows, I sort of lost sight of where they were on my face. So I have been penciling in over top the hair with a taupe pencil, and then using the powder and it doesn't rub off during the day.
Chemo put me right into menopause, so I'm thinking that's why the lashes and brows didn't come back as strong.
Ladies, treat yourself to the salon as soon as you feel like it. I agree that a small trim can make a difference, helps even things out.
