Kelly, I love how your bangs are separated with a flip!
Just got a REAL cut today at 27 wks (previously only a teeny trim & my nape neatened at 22 wks) & it's just not long enough yet to do that. It's looking way too neat after this cut 'cause it was blown dry so I feel a real need to muss it all up! It'll have to wait until I wash it again because I'd rather let it air dry to bring back the curl.Still not entirely used to the gray, but I'm holding out for a few more months to decide if I want to start colouring again - I'm still on the fence, LOL!
Nkb - first noticed mine showing some wave at about 17 wks, then it was definitely curling a month later. I'm thrilled to finally have some curl - was poker straight all my life...I'm hoping it lasts a good long while!
Well done, Joan - thanks for the chuckle!Edited to add: kjiberty - I keep thinking that's a long ponytail on the one side of your neck in your avatar...what is it?
I've updated my pic journal if anyone wants to peek (link below) -
Cay, WOW You look amazing, that hair style is goregous, I love it.. You are a beautiful lady..
-
Cayh- just thinking of you today and wondered what your updated picture looked like. Wow- your hair has really gotten thick! It definitively looks like an on purpose haircut! I like the side by side comparisons.
Lots of women with very short hair in my area- some even with shaved sides and one inch long tops. But, you can tell it is on purpose. I'm 14 weeks PFC- color and trim in ~ 3 weeks. It is so strange to look in the mirror with the wig on and then take it off and have this totally different person look back at me. -
Cayh, looks good! Thanks for posting all those pics for the ladies to see. I'm sure it really gives hope to those who are waiting and helps you to see the changes too. Your grey is lovely. I was torn between my grey and going back to my regular color, but at now 48 I felt like I had to go back. Personally, I love the 24 week look. It shows off your face beautifully. I know it's a huge change from before chemo, but the look is movie star/modelish :-). What do you think is going to be your final look? What are you shooting for?
-
CAYH.....love your hair.Mine is just about there but havn't had it trimmed yet, I want it shaped a little now. I am leaning towards not coloring mine anymore I always said i would try going gray when I turned 60 i am just 2 1/2 years ahead of schedule!, its nice not to have to worry about the color. I still havn't figured out how to post pictures!
-
I'm starting to have a lot of hair dreams. I dream I run up to sit with my daughter and her friends and oops I forgot to put my Wig on and my little 1 inch gray hair is showing. I think you should go get your wig, and I think no everybody already knows you don't have much hair.
The next night it's the same dream except for it's about running into my son and his friends instead. -
Hair raising dreams all right, Nkb - it's actually a good thing, right?
Thank you, Ladies - Eileen you're very sweet. Only problem is about it looking like an "on purpose hair cut" it that it looks like an "old lady on purpose hair cut" to me, LOL! I want loose texture/curl & a bit of edgy - it was pretty much how I wanted it at 24 weeks except for longer bangs to hide forehead wrinkles - then it grew some more, began to look like helmut head & once cut it's never the same again. At times, you'd just like to freeze it as is...
Rockym - if I were 8 yrs younger, I'd definitely go back to colouring, too. I'm tempted to let it grow just to see how the curls develop, but then I remind myself how EASY it is when it's so short. I'm aiming towards this like Diane Salvator - scrunch & go:
No reason to complain though - it has gotten very thick & I don't think about near as much as I used to while in hypersensitive mode. jittersmom - I'm right behind you...shaping helps a lot. You'll be amazed at how little hair can be cut off to make a big difference! -
Cayh: Love your hair and you look beautiful. My hair went from straight to a curly hot mess. It's sticking out all over the place, but everyone thinks it looks like a spikey style. I have gotten it trimmed three times and my last treatment was 6/28. Need another trim, but I am trying to hold off until December. It's nice to feel my head and it's covered with hair! PS--I have gotten it colored with a temporary rinse twice.
-
CAYH....just love your hairdo....the colour is so flattering on you. I am also that colour and ready for my first real haircut...I had my DH print some of your pics to show the stylist.
You are so lucky that you aren't taking Arimidex...my formerly thick hair has thinned drastically to the point I am not sure I have enough hair in the crown to even try a short cut like yours. I am trying to grow it out to one length before I try a short cut. If it looks too thin on top...it will have been a wasted effort and here we go again....waiting for it to grow out.
I am also staying gray and I love the ease of not colouring it again!
-
I got a trim again last week. I told her to keep letting the tops grow. She said okay and then cut away. I was upset til few days later everyone commented on how long my hair was getting.
Geesh, I need to just relax.
Hugs, happy hair growing, and healthy cell thoughts to everyone!

Hi ladies! I'm 5 1/2 weeks PFC. I've been reading this thread for a couple of weeks with total hair envy!! Mine is coming back pretty quickly though (I think anyway). I can no longer feel my scalp- and I look like an ostrich my DH says! Lol! My niece said I feel like a peach, but I think I'm a bit fuzzier!!
I'm really upset that after four rounds of AC (2 weeks PFC) my eyelashes and eyebrows started coming out. I got the Brian Joesph and my lashes are growing back, but my damn brows keep thining. Luckily there is new stubble under them I can use as a guide to draw them in.
Anyway, just thought I'd make myself known. I get my squishys in 12 days. Maybe then I'll just have hair envy instead if hair AND boob envy! But he'll I'm almost 45 and I had body envy before this even started. Oh to be a size 6 again. *sigh* -
juneaubugg.. welcome I am guessing you are not on Herceptin,so your hair should gro fast
downer though.... Ilost my eyelasher and brow three times,, but they come back fastalmost as if new lashes push out the old once...brows are very sparse now, have to draw them in I am 13 months PFC
EmmaC i am in need of another trim as well, but can't make myself do it.. Have had one good cut, that was abouth three +months ago... thinking it would do my hair good to get a trim, but I don't want to part with any of it
-
I am almost 11 months PFC and have been letting my hair grow in. This is the longest it's been in 30 years. The thing is...I kept it gray instead of colouring it as I have for years and it has lost it's body. The back is thick and very curly...the front and sides, thin and straight. What kind of style would make that look good? I keep letting it just grow cause I don't know how to have it cut. I don't have a regular hairdresser...been cutting it myself for 25 yrs but this time I am stumped! Sure need a professional at this point. Any suggestions?
I love CAYH's cut but her hair is MUCH thicker than mine....grrrrrrrrr Arimidex!!!!!
-
Spend the money and go to the best you can find... you've been through enough... treat yourself.. the professionals will know how to deal with it...
I did let mine keep growing as much as possible until it just would have to be trimmed.. it was just so nice to have hair again... after it got to a decent length, i never had a "bad" hair day again.... I just felt so good to HAVE HAIR..
-
Wow what a beautiful picture... you were so lucky... Yours is the way I pictured mine coming in.. I thought "oh I can deal with short hair".. until it came in so wavy it was sticking out in a million different directions... I tried gel, mousse, whatever.. drying flat, using brush.. flat iron.. forget it. until it got a little longer.. I love yours.. You look FAB..

Hello ladies, how much biotin should we take in a day?
-
schatzi - I agree with mermaid...just think of all the money you're saving by not colouring again - get thyself to a professional! Ask around for recommendations - the place where I got my wig specializes in thinning/hair loss & has stylists on staff. Any place like that near you?
EmmaC - stylists seem to go on autopilot sometimes. I thought mine took off too much too, but keep reminding myself that in 2 weeks it'll have grown enough to make me wonder what I was upset about. I just have to stop whining to myself!
Welcome juneaubugg! You'll be in the "pettable" stage now for a while - you won't be able to keep your hands (nor will others) away, LOL. It's a good feeling!
My lashes have all fallen out twice so far, but have grown back in thickly very quickly. Many have used prescription Latisse, but I'm a forever "natural" gal from here on out so cannot comment on effectiveness. Brows have thinned too, but at least they're much more easily "camouflaged".
You all are so good for my self esteem - thanks so much for the lift! -
kjiberty - I'd love to see a pic of your "curly hot mess". It sounds great to me!
-
5mg of biotin. My dermatologist confirmed it for me but you might want to check what is right for you
-
Lago, I've tried for months to post a picture:) This is 3 days pfc, I am now 7 months pfc and need to update another....Thank you
-
Wow that's a lot of hair for 3 days PFC. What a lovely photo. I don't know if more hair can actually improve on this photo. You look fantastic
-
sandlake....that's amazing for 3 days...you are a beauty!
-
WOW Sandlake, I am almost 6 months PFC and my hair is just about where you were at 3 days. That is amazing. You look great..
-
sandlake..i'm at 17 weeks pfc and just a lil bit more than that! wow!looks great! let's see an update!
schatzie; what about pulling the sides up and brushing the top back and putting all in a short pony or barrette leaving teh back long and loose?
-
lumpynme....believe it or not, I already tried that. The sides are just not long enough yet. Good idea tho'.
Also you need to know that I am not some cute young chick that can get away with that look. I am almost 69. LOL
Sadly that makes a difference.

Anybody notice increased shedding/hair loss after starting tamoxifen? I have only taken four doses and have lost more coveted strands of hair than I have since chemo struck added up together. I am 20 weeks PFC. I wish this stuff would stop messing with my hair.
-
RockyM----Where did you order or get that wig?
-
jpmom...I am not taking Tamoxifen but Arimidex and it's making me crazy. My formerly thick wavy hair is thinning on top like mad....I am so upset...what next?
-
It just doesn't seem right to have to go through chemo and then still have to take something that messes with my hair for five or more years. I really get sick of this stuff. My hair is so much finer and has so many more grays too. And wavy. And now thinning again. This stuff is never ending. I know that menopause either natural or chemically induced like mine is supposed to thin the hair but its unfair to have to do it in the course of a year at the age of 42.
-
Jpmomof3-- I have been on tamox since Sept 29th and I have not noticed nothing like that maybe to soon for me. How long have you taken tamox? maybe someone else can chime in with more time on tamox.
