I like that look too rocky. Maybe i will be there in a few months!
Wow carrol, that is an impressive amount of hair for not even two years out. looks great!
-
Carol: You look beautiful!
-
Carrol, I like the darker hair on you. Darker hair with blue eyes is a nice contrast. Are those curls in the back from chemo or did you have them before? My hair is wavy and curly and I'm still trying to figure out my next step. Also, how did you get the pics posted. I've done it before, but can't remember how and can't find the instructions anywhere. I know I need to have them posted on a site like facebook, but then how do they get in?
-
Love the dark color, looks great.
-
jpmomof3 kjiberty rocky ellen thanks for the compliments
rocky i posted the pics on photbucket and facebook and then I right clicked on them and pasted them inot the little box that comes up when you click on the tree. I believe the curls are the same as i had before they just curl up more than before because my hiar was all one lenght before if yo look at my blonde pics.
-
Carrol - wow beautiful! Your hair grows so much faster than me! I like the dark also!
-
Thanks Kim it did grow pretty quick my onc said it was a little faster than normal. I think my hiar always did grow fast though, keeping it blonde was a challenge, glad I don't do that anymore, but it sure was fun.Now I take biotin which def helps it grow and grow thicker, my nails too.
Rocky if you want to email the pics to me I will post them for you boo7of9@aol.com

I also took the new pics to use as before pics because I am starting a new skin care program from Mary Kay and I want to be able to compare and see if it is working. My skin is so saggy in my face. I wish my plastic surgeon would throw that in when he does my nipples lol Maybe when I lose another 20 lbs it will go away I am losing 1 lb a week now, down 6.2 so far.
-
What are you doing to lose the weight? I'm just trying to eat healthy whole foods. Still too tired to work out, but I finish rads in 2 weeks and hoping I can start that back up soon!
-
Carol you look beautiful! I too like the dark hair on you!
-
Carrol2, love your new avatar and i can't wait for my hair to be that long again! You look great!
-
Carol: Love your new avatar!
Kim: Was told by the dietician I need to lose 25 more lbs. (I have lost 25 since October 2011). I went back to WW in the fall, and have really curbed most of my sweet tooth. Yesterday, for example, I grabbed a peach instead of some garbage food, which I do not buy any more. I started exercising on a more regular basis (still not often enough), but I decided I will wait til the rads are over before I hit that full steam.
-
Carrol2 - absolutely LOVE the look of your new dark hair! The gray appears as highlighting in the pics & blends in beautifully!
Thanks for posting your montage - it's very helpful to those of us in the early stages still...
And I must say I get such a kick out of reading this thread - there's a lot of very funny ladies here!

Thank you for all the kind words. It's amazing how it seems like so long ago that I as bald. In my mind I feel like it happened to someone else. This will be a diatant memory for you all soon.
I am also doing weight watchers. I lost 23 pounds 2 years ago right before diagnosis and kept it off through my bmx and chemo but when everything was all over and I started working I eventually stopped doing the program and gained all the weight back and then some. So I was 30 pounds over, lost about 5 on my own then another 6.2 on program with about 20 more to go now. I want to lose it all before my surgery on oct 30th but I am only losing a pound a week so I will only lose another 10 pounds at this pace. So I will need to lose another 10 after my surgery. I can deal with that.
-
Carroll - I agree...love the dark hair on you, really makes your eyes pop. And your hair looks fabulous!
-
I agree, I will step up my program when rads are done.....lets see 8 more to go! WOOHOO!
-
One thing I wanted to mention: I've been using a very soft plastic bristled scrub brush like what a surgeon uses to scrub up with to gently massage my scalp when I shampoo lately.
It feels sooooo good & hopefully promotes better scalp circulation. I've bought them in bulk from Lee Valley for years...
-
Kim: Rads cancelled for tomorrow. I am so bummed. Machine is not working. Now I have to go on until 9/11.
-
Karen - bummer! 9/11 well that is a day you won't forget when you finish!
-
Carol
Thanks for posting the hair growth pics again. I know it help me to see that especially when it feels like my growth is sooooo slow. You're hair looks amazing now! I've pretty much ditched the wig now and am wearing hats out now or just au natural around the house and with friends and family. Never been much of a hat person before but is my collection ever growing LOL!
CAYH
I've been "brushing" my hair lately. Gently of course but I figured it might help with circulation particularly on top.

I am 6 weeks PFC and I can't believe how much my hair growth has taken off since I've been at the beach! It seems as if it grows every night while I'm sleeping! It's starting to get darker, too. I was sitting on the beach and happened to notice I needed to shave my underarms...lol. I haven't paid much attention to them since everything fell out. It was very light colored and no one would have noticed but I was actually excited about it! (I'm a very dark-haired gal that shaved legs and underarms everyday) There is light at this chemo tunnel!

rn
You're not the first person that says wind and sun seem to get the hair growing! Sounds like its growing really well! Hopefully before you know it you'll be sporting a cute do.
-
myleftboob I had a lot of fun with hats. I still love the ones I got and I wear them.

Like AEM47 was saying, there are definite benefits to having short, SHORT hair...
I've been painting exterior trelliswork for an arbor hubby built in the 90+ degree heat with extreme humidity & it occurred to me how I'd normally have sweat running down my neck with multiple clips/clamps holding my hair off my face & out of my eyes - not now! And afterwards I can just hop in & out of the shower after using my hands to sqeegee off my hair, put on a bit of makeup and I'm ready to go - used to take me about a half hour to blow dry my hair...
I had emptied my bathroom cupboard of dryer, flat/curling irons & hair brushes after I'd been buzzed & I'm not looking forward to putting them back! My real hair previously was long enough to clip back & I ended up keeping it up most times, so what was the point of having it longer anyways? About the only time I really liked it was after having my roots touched up & then blown out at the salon...
No hairbands when washing my face/applying makeup either. I can roll down the car windows & care less about the wind messing up my hair or even my wig if I'm wearing it, for that matter.
I'm really liking those short style pics!

^ what CAYH said!
-
I ha e been taking 5000 mcg biotin a day. Since its water soluble, would it be ok to take 10,000 a day? Im wondering if that would give my growth a little boost, even if I just double it up for a few months - wouldn't want to grow a go-tee or sideburns ha ha.
-
New end date for rads: 9/7! I am so excited. Pushed and pushed and got in today and Saturday too! I, too, have been taking 5K mcg biotin. Even the therapists noticed how "long" my hair was growing--LOL.
Just wondering. Anyone using a rinse on their hair (I wil be 8 weeks PFC on Thursday). Just want to get rid of the salt and pepper look.
Also, any thoughts on spray tans after rads/chemo. I am very, very pale and want a little color for the wedding.
-
shore1....I started to take 10,000 mcg daily (5000 twice a day) and my hair growth really started to take off. It seems like every morning I wake up it's grown even more. I was 6 weeks PFC yesterday.
-
Rn4babies, good to know! Im so impatient and sick of wig, but I just can't go without it yet. I will be 30 weeks pfc tomorrow. Maybe 10,000 biotin will work some magic for me.
Kjiberty - I use ammonia free Clairol rinse every 4 weeks or so since about 8 weeks pfc. -
Shore1--Good to know. You are 30 weeks PFC and haven't gone topless? You must have had pretty long hair. I go without my wig more times than not. Just wear a cute hat.
