So happy you are almost done. When you look back on this, you will be so impressed with your courage and strength. Congrats!
Rita
I am starting chemo Friday:( -
Ok I'm waiting for the itch LOL! I did hang out in the backyard for a bit for the sun and wind TX though.
-
Kitty.....You look Beautiful!
Jenn, that is how mine started!
Mom24boyza...Drink lots and lots of water! I got the same stuff and mine started to fall out on day 14-16.
I don't really have hair envy but I do have the urge to smack people who abuse their hair! I do envy those that have a choice though with their hair.
-
Divine - I spoke with a few people about extensions and have been told they will damage my new "baby" hair. Plus, I'm cheap and don't want to spend the money to keep them up - complaining is free! LOL!
Jalivey and mom24boyz- be brave sisters. You are strong! Tomorrow is one day closer to being done with treatment!
-
Thanks everyone for all the encouragement!! It is so helpful to talk with others who have "been there done that". I've already purchased a couple of hats and a scarf. I don't think wigs are for me. I'm just going to embrace my baldness! Bald is beautiful because, it's a step towards healing, the meds are doing their job. I just have to focus on that!
Blessings! -
I was actually able to get mascara on my lashes for the first time today!! YEAH!!
-
dechi,
I almost cried when I read your post. Fantastic news about the mascara! I used it all during my chemo, and even though I only had about one eyelash, I did my best to make it look pretty.
My eyelashes were one of the first thing to come back, and it happened almost overnight.
-
MamaV, lol, complaining is free....one way to look at it!
-
I am as obsessed with this thread as I am obsessed with my bald head and eyes
I am starting to feel stubble, but can't see it yet. I am sooooo eager for eye lashes. That is really the hardest part for me. I found that I'm not wearing hats or bandanas any more and relying all the time on the wig. I've realized it's because of my eyes, the bangs of the wig hide the missing everything. I love the sound of almost overnight!
-
Sigh..the chemo hair ate my keratin.
What would be the best heavy duty shiny extra super-duper hold thing I can use on my combination dandelion/brillo pad of a head? I'm not cutting it - not now, not ever - it's about 3 or 4 inches long (9 1/2 months PFC), and won't do anything.
I don't care if its expensive or cheap, as long as I can find it - this is crazy - keratin is supposed to last 3 months, not 3 weeks. Eek!! Help!!!
-
itsjustme I really like this stuff i got at sallys called criminal something it's a clear bottle with pink gel. It amkes my hair shiny and smoothes out the curls a bit. also love morrocon oil and the arcan oil hiar spray at sallys
-
My friend swears by Moroccan oil. She had long blond hair (actually a brunette with a ton of gray so you know its course, dry and prone to damage). She said it's $$. but like carrol has posted there are good alternatives.
-
I used moroccon oil until someone told me about Argon oil from Sally's Same as Moroccon oil. even smells the same.. Half price
-
Thanks!!! There is a Sally's not too far from me - I had no idea until I just googled them - so I'm going tomorrow morning to look for everything - something's got to eventually work, right?
-
My eyelashes are really growing but looking at them, they looked singhed on the ends. And they still have no color!
-
Seagrover, your description is just how my lashes started coming in. Eventually those will be joined by some darker ones and I think I lost those singed ones. Congrats on starting to get your lashes...it won't be long now.

Hellllloooo Ladies
I Love this thread! I didn't read all 507 pages, mind you...but I skipped around and found a ton of helpful hints.
I am now 3 months PFC. I have about an inch of hair (far more gray than I remember) and kinda weird feeling, like maybe it's going to be curly? My eyebrows came back in nicely, but my eyelashes (which I did not appreciate fully when I had them) are growing in as slow as molasses. They are short and they stick straight out. Hardly the "sexy" look I used to enjoy with my former long lashes :-\
Anyway, my question today, I know has probably been addressed somewhere in here, but I'm desperate. I have light blond fur all over my face. I am beyond horrified. Please, for the love of all that is Holy ~ SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW TO GET RID OF IT!!! Btw, I haven't done anything yet because I'm afraid I'll make it grow back thicker or black or something. I have visions of sporting a beard
Thanks,
SANgr

Sandy we all turned into peaches after chemo. It falls out. Some shaved it but I just trimmed it with a mustache scissors.
-
Omg...How much worse can this get?? Hahaha! It's so ludicrous I have to laugh, but geeeez!
-
Ah peachfuzz. I'm 6 weeks PFC and all I'm sporting anywhere is fuzz. Head, pits, stache. Friggin Herceptin apparently makes it all slower too. GRRRR this sucks!
-
Hi Everyone! I love this thread - so nice to know that you've all been where I am! I'm not sure if this question has been addresssed, but when did you know that your hair was going to curl? I'm 3 months pfc and have a good cap of hair now - probably about an inch long in most places, but shorter up front. So far, it looks straight but I'm wondering if maybe the curl doesn't start until it gets a bit longer. To be honest, I've been kind of hoping it'd stay straight - I've never had curls and wouldn't know what to do with them!
I'm glad to hear the peach fuzz thing will go away! I noticed it about a month ago and today saw that it was getting a little out of control along my jaw below my ears. Thankfully, my wig seems to hide most of it. I'm not sure when I'll feel comfortable going without the wig in public. While I whip it off the moment I get home, I never leave home without it.
-
Hi Jen, My curls started out as "ripples" on the back of my head, at about 10-11 weeks. I now (almost 6 months PFC) have a head full of poodle hair that if I stretch it out to measure, is about 2" except in front, where it is even shorter. Sigh.
-
I am 2 weeks and 1 day PFC and chomping at the bit!
For the first time in my life, I am appreciating my very heavy eyebrows (thanks Dad!). Although they thinned appreciably, I think I had enough going in that I will not lose them completely (knock on wood). Same for my eyelashes.
-
Sandyland, I'm 6.5 months PFC and my eyelashes also came in straight. I use a product from Lancome called CILS BOOSTER XL, then my mascara and then an eyelash curler. The Lancome product was originally a sample, but it works great to thicken the lashes and they look fuller. I have since purchased a full one. The curler (which I haven't used in years) is kinda training my lashes to go back up. Just be sure your lashes are strong because you obviously don't want to pull them out :-). Just go very gentle and perhaps you will get that curl going again.
-
Rocky - I love cils booster - i've used it for a few years!
-
Thank you so much for the great suggestions....I plan to try everything!

i'm five months post-chemo and my hair is about an inch long. And it's growng straight up. I thought I was out of the woods as far as curls go - but yesterday in the rain I noticed that it was curling a bit around the back.
Can the curling start anytime? Should I be bracing myself for poodle hair?
Janet
-
Janet, that's how mine started, but much sooner than yours, so maybe you'll get lucky and just have a little wave. The back and sides are so bad that I've been having it cut to a half inch or so while the top grows. Thankfully the top does not appear to be curly so far and is now about an inch and a half long. I'm actually liking the look and have had a lot of compliments. It's certainly easier than fighting the poodle hair.
-
Janet, I am 5 and something months past chemo and my hair is still straight (like it always ways before as well). There is a two tiny curls at the base of my neck in the back, but that is it.
-
Thanks. And it's so great to hear from people who are liking their new look. I think short hair is beautiful! I just don't like it on me, yet.
