I am so excited to be pass the loss and moving toward getting my hair as the flowers bloom. I do have a port wine stain that has developed a purple"black and blue" around it. Showing the doctor on Friday...he said he is not "too"worried....??? But to show him on Friday. Not sure what to think.....two more days to treatment 9/12. I am starting to dance and be silly. What a road and i am almost done. This has changed my life forever! If I want to dance-I will and who cares what anyone thinks! Look out life-I will be more out there then before!

I am 5 wks out also.  Just some peach fuzz and no eyebrows, my eyelashes are starting to fall out now!?  So tired of not having hair!  My DH is taking my 3 daughters to the orthodontist today.  It's in a town 2 hours away and while they are there they are going to see MY parents and MY nieces, but I can't go because I have no leave left.  It's not fair!

My longest hairs are about than 3.5" and that's my bangs. I love my short hair. I'm not going back to that long stuff. Too much work.

Lago - My longest hairs right now are about 1/2 to 1", will have to post pics again as I did a buzz job.  You're right....too much work to go longer.  My new post chemo hair is directionally challenged as well - my hairdresser found some really bizarro growth patterns and cowlicks...no wonder I was fighting with it as soon as it got any length!!

I still buzz the sides and back. Not sure I could really measure that.

Marjie, I also have random cowlicks that weren't there before.  I'm hoping that when I do get some decent length they will be less noticeable. 

 Yesterday and today my scalp has been quite tender, and I had a few panicked moments this morning when I remembered that it felt that way right before my hair started falling out.  I talked myself down from the ledge, and I hope that it's a sign that I'm about to enter a growth spurt.

I have intermittant times when my head gets sore, I don't really know why but have never lost any more hair when it does.  Just stays sore for a few days and then I kind of forget about it til it hurts again.  There's always that thought in the back on my mind that it feels just like when mine was about to fall out, but now I know that it will be just fine.

I too have a few cowlicks but I think I always did. When my hair is long the weight of it tames them.

I had chin length hair before chemo, and now that I am 8 mos. PFC, I am loving my shorter hair, although it can be a bit unruly and if I don't put the right product on, it is fluffy.  Still lots of chemo curl, especially in the back.  I do want longer bangs though.  I can at least get a half inch flat iron through much of it to calm it down.

I was in Ft. Lauderdale and Delray Beach for 9 days and I never bothered to try and do anything with my hair.  At least the 25 mph winds didn't make my hair fly in my face...lol.

Selena - My onc said not to color for 6 months, but I couldn't wait that long.  My hairdresser used an organic at about 4 months.  I went topless the next day.

Bonseye - have you tried the Dance Party games?  Sooo much fun.

It's not fair that the hair fell out in a week but takes MONTHS to come back.  I've stopped looking for roots.

How long after chemo do your eyebrows stop falling out?  2 months ago, I was thinking about getting them waxed, and didn't (so I can't blame that), and they're mostly gone again...sigh...it's been 7 months PFC, I'm almost willing to go out wearing a "normal" baseball cap (one without built in bangs and pony tail) without crying, and *poof* no eyebrows again.  I'm really getting tired of this happening... so how many more times can I look forward to this?

itsjustme my eyebrows are still thin. It's been over a year for me.

My eyebrows fell out three times AFTER chemo ended. I also lost eyelashes several times. I remember it being pretty discouraging. I am almost two years PFC. My hair had tight poodle curls when it started to grow in and I really struggled with it. My hair, almost two years later, is close to it's pre chemo texture and thickness. I have retained a bit more body and wave than I had before.

Just jumping in to say thanks to the ladies who shared that it's not totally unheard of to lose some brows and lashes 5-6 months PFC.  I've been shedding a lot lately and haven't been freaking out TOO much about it....

I'm just 3 weeks PFC and have started to see some white hairs sticking straight up on top. Looks like grass, as someone else posted, or like I stuck my finger in an electrical outlet. I can tell this is going to be a long, frustrating process. Glad you ladies are here to show me the way!

My hairdresser warned me that - it took 50-odd years to "train" my hair the way I wanted - my new hair will take some training, as well.  She said that - if I wanted to change from a right side part - now was the time to start working on it.

The irony is not lost on me.  Prior to this, I spent a fortune ripping out all hint of hair on my body: underarms, legs, bikini line, eyebrows, etc.  I was ruthless.  And in pain.  Now, it's like, I want to be "Jungle Woman"; give me hair, everywhere, I don't care.  "Au naturel" now has a great deal of appeal.,,

I don't know what I was thinking, but i ordered radid lash to help with lash growth.  I thought I could use it during chemo!  Got it today and it said in the small print - not to be used during chemo.  BUMMER.  Guess I will just save it till I'm finished.

Onvacation, try Brian Joseph brow and lash gel. It can be used during chemo. My MO was ok with me using it. Brows very thin, but 6 weeks pfc and I still never lost them all.

Starting chemo on 3/22/12.  Anxious about the hair loss experience. I've NEVER  had short hair, but chopped it off yesterday. Donating my Goldilocks (9" ponytail) to Beautiful Lengths. It will be used towards making, free real-hair wigs for the Amer. Cancer Society's wig banks which distribute wigs to cancer patients.  You may ask why didn't I save it for myself.... Because it made me feel good to know that someone will actually benefit from my cancer/hair loss experience. Gosh, I almost think losing my boob was less traumatic

Mucles.. Nicely done... We have all been where you are and understand what you are going thrugh.. Hair will grow back it might seem like it takes forever, but it stars sprouting and slowly fills in

Mucles --  that was a nice thing to do.  I did the same thing and it helped know that I helped someone who couldn't afford a wig.  Like you I was more upset about losing my long hair then my foobs, but now that I am 6 months post chemo and have 1 in of hair I have packed away the wigs and embracing my short do (my hair is gr owning shower then some I think because of Im still on herceptin).

Good luck with chemo I hope you fly through it with minimal issues.
