Hair Hair Hair - Another question

Hello! I am new to this thread and I have read many posts but this thread is so long (that is a good thing), I could not get to everything. I am losing my hair in clumps as we speak, last time was in 2006. I do not like losing my hair but I HATE the thought of losing my brows and eyelashes again. Any new products out there to help fake the look of the brows? I saw the Anastasia products but will this work on no brows too?
Thanks for your help ladies. I am already looking forward to the chemoperm 'do' I never thought I would say that again!
Thanks for your help.

vickib... I used brian joseph brow and lash gel.. but you would need to start pronto... www.brianjosephs.com
I started about 3 days after first chemo and used it everyday till 2 months post chemo.
-
vickib, i have no, and i mean NO, eyebrows. i'm 66 now so i don't know if they're coming back or not. i inherited bad eyebrows from my mother ... they come out as we age and don't grow back. it's ugly. i've used the anastasia on my 'bald' face and it works fairly well. the problem is that if i wear a hat or scarf, it rubs off easily. thankfully, my glasses hide fairly well where my eyebrows should be. ugh. i feel sooooooo ugly.
-
YaYa - I'm 61 and my lashes and brows all fell out during my last chemo treatment. But they came back completely, maybe even better than they were. I'll bet yours will come back, too. I wore my glasses for disguise, too! I bought some Maybelline brow powder and some stencils - it worked fairly well until they came back.
And you are NOT ugly! As a matter of fact, you look fantastic and no one would believe your avatar is someone 66 years old! That smile is beautiful!

Dragonfly- love the photos. We look very similar. I have had 2 trims so far mainly just to tame it not to shorten it. Also same date PFC as you.
My hair is curly and yes like you the top grows just curly. For me the sides and back are wavy and have grown more than the front. It's about time for another cut. My hairstylist told me to not fight the curl. One day my teen daughter thought she'd try to straighten it. It was hilarious! I looked like I had a flattop cut! It was funny. We did it on a day I didn't have to leave the house over the holidays.
We laughed & decided the stylist was right to just let it go. The good part is that really I can just wash and go at this point. I do miss bangs and hair over the forehead!!! Just glad about it coming back. I think the Herceptin makes it grow slower because the hair on my legs is still slow growing as are my eyebrows.
Happy New Year to you all.
Lisa

michelle, you are sooo sweet. thank you for your kind words. they made my day!
-
That's a lot of hair
Is that your natural color? It is wonderful. -
Your hair is so thick Dragonfly!!! Nice pic. Have you colored it yet?
-
Dragonfly, that's a LOT of nice hair, especially in the back. Thanks for posting your progress.
Lago, I just ordered the Anastasia brow kit, since we don't have a Sephora. Thanks for the tip!
Cupcakes, I'm not using Latisse but I'm using an OTC brow/lash gel that's supposed to do the same thing. I've been using it every night but don't know if it will help or not. I'm just 14 days out from my first T/C.
Betsy, I'll try that BryanJoseph product next. Thanks.
-
No, I haven't colored my hair or used any special products. I took this as an opportunity to go back to the natural color (my avatar is the way my hair looked for many years-straight and blonde). I'm going for a cut today to give it better shape.
-
Dragonfly, I wanted to tell you I love your hair! I am so jealous of both the thickness and the color. You are younger than me and a little longer PFC, but so far ahead of me! I am very happy for you.
-
I think you should consider keeping the natural color, because it is really nice.
-
Dragonfly, you look fantastic!
-
SpecialK: Thank you for the link to Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. I will definitely use that.
-
yaya everytime I see your photo it reminds me of one of my very good friends who just turned 50!! You are her twin!! She is beautiful, as are you!!! Except she has more hair
-
that's funny, bucky. i actually DO have a twin sister. we're identical, but you don't know her!! thank you for your kind words. i appreciate them more than you know.
-
Dragonfly, Your hair is just gorgeous! It's so thick ... what I would give for that hair!
I'm still noticing some scalp showing even though I'm 9 mos. PFC. I saw a t.v. commercial a few days ago about a powder to use on your part or any bald spots. Has anyone tried this? They didn't show it in my color (white) but maybe if I ever dye it I could try it. The colors don't look too natural to me but maybe that's just on the t.v.
I let my hair grow in - it's very curly. I finally decided to put some mousse on it and that helped tremendously to give it body even though ti was very short. I also have to be really careful of drying it on a warm setting so I don't look like Clarabell (the clown).
-
i'm getting eyebrows! ...6 hairs on the left and four on the right. they're coming in much lower than they were before. hmmmmm. ya never know, huh??
-
Dragonfly your hair does look wonderful. My hair also came in much thicker. It's so thick my stylists thins it out. It's puffy too. I love it short on both of us.
-
Lago - Have you noticed more rapid hair growth being off of Herceptin? I finished Dec. 5th, and am hoping mine will take off now.
-
I am sick of wearing the wig but I still have a crew cut look. I went to work on Monday without the wig but soon put my tobogan back on. Just not ready to show everyone my head plus it is freezing here. My head gets really cold and especially my ears. I have had long hair for the last 40+ years. Does anyone just wear hats? I was looking at headcovers.com today and I might just start wearing hats to work. I have sideburns and the hair is coming lower on the forehead. Does anyone else just wear hats
-
I just wear hats. I got most of them from head covers.com. I have, on occasion, worn a wig but, like you, my head gets cold. I even wear a hat in the house, unless I'm having a hot flash, then I rip it off!
-
i just wear hats and never bought a wig. the only reason i wear hats though, is because my head gets cold. the rest of the time i'm topless! i have this belief that people need to see me just as i am. probably silly, but that's how i feel.
-
Dragonfly, Your hair is so great, really thick, that's exactly how mine came in too
-
Ladym13 - Do you just use a straightener to straighten your hair? Or did you have a salon straightening treatment done? Any products you would recommend? I just love the way your hair looks!
Kathy

I bought a wig, paid a ridiculous price, and wish I hadn't! It looked good but I ended up having no problem going bare once my grandkids and my mom got familiar with the idea. I wear a hat only when I am going outside in the winter cold.
I'm with you, YaYa...we are what we are!
-
Robo47 - looking forward to your pics! I'm in the middle of my treatments (2 out of 4 done) and all of your pictures and posts give me something to look forward to. Thanks
-
they will give you a scrub hat to wear during surgery. no hats or wigs allowed
-
missy my hair did start to grow faster after herceptin not that my hair wasn't coming in. It alway did grow fast.
My head didn't get cold but my ears always has. I wear 180s or a headband around my ears/forehead to keep them warm.
Robo at least I met you with hair. You never knew me with hair longer than an inch or two

-
bhd1 - I brought a clean bandana from home to wear under my surgery "shower hat". The OR staff had no problem with that.
