^5, LuvRVing! Welcome to the ranks!
-
LuvRVing-congrats on last chemo. What a fine fine feeling.
-
marial you look great! coming in nicely
elaine don't despair it will grow it's slow for some people. I used the nioxin shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment which worked nicely from beauty brands.
-
LuvRVing- congrats on finishing chemo! I love your avitar pic by the way!
Lago - thanks..no miracle grow!..I actually just started on thyroid meeds almost a month ago and te number one side effect said hair loss..so I was very worried..I have tried Nioxin, not sure if that has helped any. -
Thanks to everyone for posting the growth charts. It's nice to be able to compare our growth and look forward to the following weeks with great anticipation and hope........
Racy** Your hair is way longer than mine!! Thanks for all your encouragement. You made me smile when I was way to sad.
-
Mariel-so so jealous! I don't want longer hair (well I do) but I really want it thicker so you don't see the skin and that just isn't happening. I agree with everyone else, it is probably the combination of herceptin and/or tamoxifen.
I was hoping to be able to do my niece's wedding on December 30th without a wig, but I am pretty sure that is not going to happen! I am too vain.
I have sideburns too! It is funny as I was trying to decide if I had hair there before and it was just long, or if I am just growing them now.
-
I really want to post a photo, but I'm so frustrated by the directions to upload a photo to photobucket, then copy to here. Why has this become SO DIFFICULT???!!!! We should just be able to copy and paste without any extra bullshit. Like we don't have enough of that already in our lives!
I'd like to show you all how well my hair's growing back just 2 months after my last chemo. Thought it might give others a benchmark and some hope.
HA! Look at that! I just copied from photobucket and pasted! Let's see how this goes... -
Charlotte's mama-Two months?!!! YOu better take that picture down. We will all be jealous!
-
-
Charlottesmama - I store my photos on PicasaWeb. When I post a picture here, I simply put the cursor on the picture, right click the mouse and select copy, then come to the text box here, click the cursor in the text box, then right click and select paste. I do usually get asked if I want to allow the content, and I always click on allow. Sometimes it has tobe done twice and I have to click on paste twice. But at least it always works.
And it's a wrap. Note that I had to shed that wig, it was getting rather annoying!
-
REALLY! My last chemo (Taxol the f*cker) was July 15. It was the second time I lost my hair. Thin whites grew in first and I worried that's all I'd ever have. Then, whammo! the dark hair started growing in as my eye brows and then lashes fell out. I LOVE my new punky white hair with black roots! Who knew I had that funky cowlick in the front? I'm determined to keep this short 'do as long as I can also white-out the tips and maybe touch up a bit of pink. Lashes and brows grew back in super quick too. Nothin' yet down below. Ahem.
-
Yay LuvRVing!!! Happy for you!
-
Charlottesmama** What is your secret for that kind of growth?? I am 13 weeks PFC and don't have that kind of look!! You look beautiful...
LuvRVing** Your wig is fabulous. I did not realize that was a wig until I scrolled down to read the rest of your post.
-
Emma and Luv... I went topless the whole time. I am not a wig kinda grrrl and though I've always hated baseball caps, they became my head cover thing of choice. My sister had a bunch made for me that say "death is NOT an option". I was bald during the cold upstate New York winter months, so a fur trappers hat kept me warm and hid my baldness.
But you know what? I didn't really care that much about being bald. I couldn't see my sorry head, so I didn't think about it. I'm a pastry chef and have to wear a hat, so my colleagues didn't even notice the difference either.
Don't overthink the hair. It will be there before you know it!

There is my fuzzy head, 9pfc!!!!
dont I look happy? lol
-
Charlottesmama - the hair and color look great on you..that is a great amount of growth! LuvRVing
I agree, the wig looks awesome..you would never know. I loved those little wraps for the head..I used them all the time on the caps..necer tried them on my wigs, but wish I had seeing how cute it looked on you! -
I don't wear wigs, I wore bandanas til my hair started to come in, now I wear a buff. It looks like a scarf. So wonderfully soft!
-
luvrving, congratulations on finishing chemo! what a happy day that must be!! i love your wig, too, but the headband look is great, too.
charlottesmama, your hair is adorable and WOW! only two months PFC??
emma, your hair looks great, too!
-
EmmaC** You are on your way... Keep on growing.
-
EmmaC you have such a nice even coverage..I had that male patterned baldness going on for such a long time with nothing on top...coming along great!
-
LuvRVing-yeah, last chemo. I'm with you, the wig was always irritating to me, hardly ever wore it.
charlotesmama-holy crap, 2 months. It looks great. You should get your hair back quickly if you've lost it twice-good for you.
fluffqueen-too late, I'm already jelous.
EmmaC-I can see it, it's there-keep growing baby.
Hair very very fuzzy, feels pretty thick but can't really tell yet. Can't wait to get more coverage so I can ditch the scarves.
-
I was going to mention too, it's amazing what having no hair makes you learn to focus on..I never owned an eyebrow pencil before, never had an eyelash curler..never owned a pair of big dangly earrings, never worried about making sure I had enough eye makeup on, making sure I had a hat while out in the sun, bought some new larger sunglasses (figured less hair meant I needed bigger sunglasses), using a magnifying mirror to look at eyelashes and brows..and looking on the counter, in the shower, and on my pillow for stray hair!
-
I'm 5 weeks PFC today. Hoped to wake up and see something growing.
Nothing, nada, zilch. I'm so sad and impatient!
-
Thanks, everyone, for the compliments on that wig. LOL. It's a $25 Halloween costume wig that I ordered from Amazon for a 70s party for my son this past weekend!!! I have 3 other real wigs, but I have gotten way more compliments on this "disposable" piece of fun! It goes down to the middle of my back, which is even crazier. When I walked into the treatment center yesterday, my nurses didn't recognize me. I guess if I go to a Halloween party this year, I'll be all set!
Michelle
-
charlottesmamma you have a lot of hair! Mine has slowed down temendously, maybe the herceptin? It is very thick though so maybe putting all its energy into that.
michelle you do such great pics....you wont miss that blue chair will you? At the hospital we always called those chairs "geri-chairs" as in geriatric, and when I first sat in one I was freaked out...thinking OMG here I am in a geri-chair at 53!! Would love to raise money for some more comfy, respectable chairs for our local chemo center.
emma now that you have the basic coverage it will take off like wildfire....so smiiiile...you are beautiful!
-
charlottesmama wow you too have amazing hair growth. You should keep it like this. You look awesome.
Nice wig LuvRVing!
Emma you look cute bald. Must be all the piercings
Marial I'm still looking for eyelashes. The come and then they go again. I just wish one side would be as thick at the other. Last month righty was thinner. This month it's lefty. Brows are similar but since I fill them in it's not as much of an issue.
-
Emma-love the piercings. Was actually thinking of redoing some that I had when I was younger. Figure if I'm going to have short hair for a while, I'll bling up the ears. Your pics where cute, but more than that I thought they looked tough.
bcisnofun-I undertand the sad part. Between wks 4-5PFC I dreamed everynight of having hair then woke up with none, soooooooo depressing. We are 2 wks apart and it was between wk 5 1/2 and 6 that all the sudden-HAIR. Hang in there babe, it will come back I promise.
Michelle-your right, this may be the only Halloween (hopefully) where we can wear any kind of silly wig or costume we want without having to worry about hair being in the way. My BF tells me I should go as a sexy GI Jane but I'll still probably have a drain in from surgery on Mon. Will just have to be his sexy GI Jane when it come out, Lol.
carberry-I know about the Geri chair, try sitting in one at 39. Thankfully that was just as my BC office, my cancer center has these great reclining chairs, that change position and massage you with a touch of a button with heat no less. Love my center-makes such a huge difference when your sitting/sleeping in them for 6 hour infusions.
Hope you ladiess have a great day. Just got to say I love having my little boys around, everyday they tell me how much my hair is growing, even if it's not as true as they make it sound-love kids.
-
Charlottesmama, wow! How on earth did you get so much hair? I am about the same as you, but have less than half an inch. It is growing s o v e r y s l o w l y. You look great!
-
Thank you Ladies!
I used to have an industrial piercing,(where a bar connects and goes from your lower ear to your upper ear) but I had to lose it due to surgery. I might go get that redone.
-
survivor11 - thanks for the pep talk. I hope you're right! Thanks for being just ahead of me. How nice of you to forge the way
