Do hot flashes ever end?!?
Comments

Please tell me they do! I've been on Tamoxifen since 1/06 and had a full hysterectomy (including ovary removal) in 11/07. The hot flashes are bad - especially at night! I mean, the night ones are really bad.
Do they ever go away? Or do I just have to buy more sheets and pjs to change in the middle of the night.....every night....
Anyone know? Thanks!

I've had warm flushes for years and just start with the hot ones, so don't know. My mother who is 80, still has warm flashes on occasion
She had her uterus out when about 50!
I did read many who've gone on effexor (and antidepressent) I think it is and had good luck with it.
Hopefully someone will come by that has them horribly and help out. That's the only good thing with mine, is I don't work outside the home, so I can catch up on needed sleep I lose from them -
I hear you sister, had my ovaries out May 26 (age 44) and the nightsweats are now brutal, brutal. I was chemically menopausal for 1 1/2 years due to Zoladex injections and Armidex. The nightsweats have gotten worse now.
I slept with the window open last night and a fan beside me and slept not too bad for a change....I hope the hotflashes decide to fly out the window....

I started Tamoxifen in Feb of 2006...had BAD hot flashes for many months. I noticed, in the past 6 months...they have lessened. So...there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Hang in there...ya never know!

Bellergal, Megace, Neurontin, Effexor XL, Vit E, are some of the effective meds for flashes. Megace is Very good.
Look them up and then call your onc. Mine was wonderful about anything I asked for and we tried several. Loosing sleep is just the pits and you can never get it back.

Also consider Catapres (Clonidine). It is a blood pressure medication that
can also help alleviate hot flashes. I use a Catapres Patch and it has made a big difference with the number and severity.
