More Tips (and a Shopping List) for Getting Through Chemo

Thank you fellow bumpers...I start my 20 weeks of chemo (AC-T) this week and this thread was incredibly helpful. Hugs to everyone...so nice to have found all of you...makes this thing seem doable now. How much water are you guys trying to drink everyday?
-
Madelyn, I figure I drank nearly a gallon of water the day before (to plump up my veins), the day of, and three days after a tx. Wanted to excrete that stuff ASAP. Had this 20-oz cup and filled it at least 6 times during the day. Onc. nurses kept me supplied with ice chips that I sucked on during infusions. Good luck with chemo. Have you heard this one yet?
Murphy's Law of Chemo SE Management: "If you don't have something on hand, you will need it exactly when you cannot go out and get it."
Corollary: "If you buy it in advance, you will end up not needing it at all."
-
Hey Badger...
I knew I had to drink but didn't know how much. Thank you so much for clearing that up. I start Wednesday 7/11, so I'm grabbing the water right now as I type. I like the ice chip idea too. Thanks!
I bought all the goodies for SE management: so I hope I will be okay!!
Smiles to all!

Bump in honor of kjiberty!
-
Madelyn, just a quick note, not everyone gets every one of the SEs, so don't panic. Don't expect the worst, but be aware. Good luck.
-
Thank you Moonflwr912! My first chemo day was doable. I know the steroids are helping right now...but I'll just take it one day at a time. I think I bought out the drug store-- so if a SE comes on, I got it covered! Badger said the Murphy's Law of Chemo is that if you have it you won't need it...so my fingers are crossed!
-
Madelyn, I've got my fingers crossed for you too! ((hugs))
-
Madelyn, Good luck to you! Sending hugs your way and wishing you minimal S/E's. I am so appreciative for this thread. Drink, drink, drink! I had a 32 oz mug and knew I had to fill it up at least 2-3 times a day to get through the water. I can't tell you how invaluable this thread is.
PS--I am not 14 days PFC!!! yeah! Headed to the RO tomorrow to discuss rads.
-
Bumping because you are so right kjiberty, this thread is invaluable!
-
Nico1012--I totally agree. Bump!

Hey Guys...
I'm on day 3(AC tx) and so far so good.
I'm grateful for putting Lidocaine on my port an hour before.--it didn't hurt at all!
I'm grateful for Kjiberty telling me to drink, and drink.
I'm grateful for feeling okay...and for all of you....let's keep this thread going! Amen!
