I'm not a breast cancer survivor. But I am the granddaughter and cousin of two incredible women who have survived. I'm always humbled by their strength and perseverance.

I believe that one of the most incredible forms of alternative healing is through storytelling. We learn so much from the experiences of our friends, sisters, ancestors.  I recently learned about a project by way of the International Museum of Women. Their online exhibition features a story about a traveling mural called Who Holds the Mirror? Breast Cancer, Women's Lives and the Environment. Women went into their communities and interviewed women from the same background about their expereinces with breast cancer... the result? a 10 by 12 foot masterpiece that pictoraly records the oral histories of the women who participated int he project.  The story shows the power of collective action in raising awareness about breast cancer and different healing alternatives.  You can read the story and look at the mural here

I appreciate the stories others are telling about alternative treatments. Thank you for sharing.

<>The mural is beautiful.  Thank you for posting a link to it.  I was not aware, and not surprised, that a paltry 3% of research money goes toward investigating environmental elements.  Raising awareness will change this, hopefully.
