Hi Just wondering if anyone else suffers from Arthritis around the shoulders and arms.  I can't sleep some nights because the pain is so bad.  I had 3 months of chemo and 12 months of herceptin.  I suppose if I don't have cancer now I have to be greatful and put up with it - but sometimes it is so so bad.

    Anyone else experience this?

Many thanks and good luck to everyone on this site.

    Cheers...Jan

hi jan. i  have lupus arthritis.  i had just come out of a 7 year bad flare a few months before my dx in 06.  all during treatment (almost 2 years) i had no pain due to the steroids with treatment.  when i finished herceptin in jan.  the pain came back with a vengance.  unbearable.  so now i'm on prednisone and darvocet to allow me to function somewhat normally.  now that i've sadly had to start treatment again i'm hoping at least that the pain will be controlled with that...some trade off huh?  my point is that if you have any arthritis at all you could be having a rebound issue which is what my rheumy told me.  of course chemo does change our metabolism i believe and i don't know how old you are but dam it these changes happen to the best of it.  maybe you should get it checked out and get appropriate treatment.  my feeling these days is that no one should have to endure pain...they better just fix it one way or another.  let us know what you find out.

Yes, I developed arthritis in six places during treatment.  Rice towels are good along with pain meds.  Fold over a hand towel and stitch together leaving an opening.  Pour dry rice in it filling it up enough to leave it filmsy.  Stitch up the opening.  Microwave for about a minute or longer.  It fits into every painful groove and is more flexible than a heating pad.
