    I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but what is a PET scan? I had a mastectomy in Dec 07 and chemo in Feb 08. I have read about this scan but my doctor never mentioned it to me. Is it to check for spreading? My tumor was 2.1 cm. I had ILC with alot of LCIS. I also had a re-excision because margins were not clear enough.

    Hi Bean

    A Pet scan is a very sophisticated 3d xray than can see how tissue is behaving and thus shows up whether cancer has indeed spread.

    You say you are node neg, but don't say what stage you are so I can only presume this is being done as a post chemo check and shows that your doc is being very thorough!  (Unless of course you have complained of unusual symptoms?).
