This thread was on the old board and I missed it...

Although I can certainly appreciate the weight gain struggles many of us are dealing with, some of us have the opposite problem and are struggling to maintain and/or gain pounds. You think it'd be easy, but it isn't - especially for those of us who are active. I don't want to become obsessive with the scale, but it's hard not to. I've lost four pounds since my last onc visit in March and the next one is coming up soon. I don't want to hear this woman rag on me and have even considered wearing a jacket - in hot a$$ June - for my visit. Crazy, I know...

Anyone else struggling with weight gain?

    Felicia,

You know me - trying to tone this skinny a$$ of mine also. I have been terrible about letting myself go and the thinnest has turned to some weird fat - I think it is cellulite but now sure.

My entire body is thin with the exception of my tummy - I've been working out at the gym to keep fit.

I haven't figured out how to get rid of this weird cellulite thing...

Hey, Pep! Love the new avatar, btw...

Cellulite is a weird thing. There was a woman I ran with in college who was as thin as a rail but had cellulite; weirdest thing I've ever seen. I think it is hereditary and I have no idea how to get rid of it...

The crap that happens to us as we get older THAT NOBODY TELLS US ABOUT could fill volumes...

I gain my 4 lbs back! Only 8 more to go...

    Hi Felicia,

    Yah on gaining 4 pounds!

Yah it is weird. I'm just going to hit the gym harder. I was told that if I do some serious crunches that it would tighten up and the cellulite thing will eventually go away.

I'm doing a circuit at the gym, taking pilates and Tai Chi. I really love this gym - it is owned by a family of experts in the field of physical conditioning and relaxation of the soul.  They believe in not only working on the body to keep tone but to find that inner calmness.

It has done wonders for me.

How are you liking tai chi, Pepper? I tried it recently and thought it was awesome...

    Hi Felicia,

I LOVE it....my instructor is amazing and the calming affect that he has on me is great.

I have been doing the circuit and have almost got myself toned up around the tummy area. My abs are getting tight again and my calves are coming back. I took kick boxing but it has been too tough on my knees and so I had to quit.....

What activities have you been doing?

A bit of running (on the bike this week because my knees are hurting and I can't run in the brace), lifting and karate. Sweating is oh so good for the soul Laughing...

I agree. I just joined a new class called "move and groove" and man oh man the instructor is tough but this class is good for all over toning.

I really wanted to take the kick boxing class but my knees can't handle it!

Pepper, I hate to sound like a broken record, but you should try karate Sealed. That way you can use your hands and not your legs so much if you want. Punching stuff is a great way to tone your upper body (especially arms, shoulders, back and torso)...
