Health Insurance change for high risk?

I recently had a diagnosis of LCIS, plus atypical hyperplasia.  Is there a reason to worry about changing insurance coverage soon? I'm changing jobs soon, and I'm considering it... but feel I'm in a no-(wo)man's-land regarding insurance.

(Note: haven't decided how exactly to proceed concerning my diagnosis.  Will be starting new job before I do make a decision.)   Thanks to anyone who may have some insight.

    best,

    Shoe

    Hi Shoe,

Generally the way it works, there are no pre-existing condition clauses when you sign up with your new employer's health insurance when you start a new job.  I have a chronic disorder and I was often concerned about this, but I have changed jobs twice since I was dxed with the chronic disorder and I have had no problems.  I am in MA.  I don't know if it is different in other states.

Good luck with your new position.

Just make sure that you have no lapse in coverage -- for example, if your new job has a 60 day waiting period before you are eligible for insurance coverage, make sure that you have COBRA from your old job during that period.

Talk to the HR person at your new job to find out what those limits are
