Dr. Peter Weiss on Oprah

Did anyone happen to see Dr. Peter Weiss on yesterday's Oprah show?
I first heard of him a couple of years ago and read his book, Many Lives Many Masters. It's one of the most fascinating stories I've ever read. Hard to explain in an online post, but Dr. Weiss, a well-respected psychiatrist, started using hypnosis to help a patient of his escape anxiety and depression, and the patient started experiencing "past lives". On yesterday's show, Dr. Weiss attempted to hypnotize the entire audience, as well as Dr. Oz (a regular guest on Oprah) and a past Oprah guest. The outcomes, especially of the past Oprah guest was mind blowing stuff.
Due to the response of yesterday's show, Dr. Weiss is scheduled to appear again on June 17th to show more past life transgressions through hypnosis.
I can't post a link from work, but if you go to Oprah's website, you can read about yesterday's show.

Oh, I wished I'd seen that! I believe in reincarnation, and have actually had past-life memories. I've read Dr. Weiss' book and would like to have seen that show.
I'd like to have a past-life regression, but they're expensive. I've bought a past-life regression CD from a local hypnotherapist, but haven't had any success with it.

I'm pretty sceptical about reincarnation, but always try to have an open mind. I mean, I have enough trouble with my current life, never ind a few freakin' past ones! But if Dr. Oz treats it seriously, well then...(I'm a fan)... I DVR Oprah every day, so I'll be sure to check this one out.

I am a total skeptic, but I did see the show, and was pretty amazed. My sister is totally into that stuff, and when I told her about the show, she was like-- see, I told you so.
I'm still a skeptic. While some of the things were fascinating, there's no proof that the memories buried deep in the brain are real, or if they are things you saw on tv, or read about, and then the brain put them together.
It was really interesting to say the least, but I won't be running to a past life regressionist any time soon.

I've heard Brian Weiss speak and read Many Lives, Many Masters many years ago. It changed my perspective on lots of things. I think it would be good to reread it now that I've had the BC experience. It's enough for one lifetime.

I met Dr. Weiss briefly in 1990 when he was head of the psychiatry department at Mt Sinai in Miami and my husband was a terminal patient there. I bought his book and was changed forever by it. One of his "theories" is that through each life, you go round with the same souls. So that when you have the experience of just meeting someone and feeling that you've known them forever, you just might be right.
While my husband was in ICU, I became friends with a woman from Scotland whose husband was also there. We had so much in common - both teachers, both taking tap dancing lessons, both with two kids about the same age. In fact, her younger daughter was named Claire - which is definitely not a Scottish name. It WAS like we had known each other forever, and have remained good friends over the miles and through the years. That meeting gave me added belief in Dr. Weiss's theories.
Also, my younger son, who was born a year after my father died, has so much of my father's personality that it is amazing.
I know this all sounds really weird, but not being a religious person, believing in reincarnation is no more strange than other beliefs.

I too was very skeptical a couple of years ago when BF Mark gave me Many Lives, Many Masters to read. I knew nothing about past life regression when I started reading the book, and thought Mark might be a little off for believing in something that sounded so "out there".
After reading Many Lives, Many Masters my thoughts on the subject changed dramatically. I am now fascinated by the possibility of past lives...don't know with 100% certainty that they exist, but Dr. Weiss' book certainly opened my mind to the possibility and piqued my curiosity.
I am really looking forward to Oprah's June 17th show to see more.

I think we believe what we need to believe and that is fine as long as we don't use our beliefs to bully and enslave others.
