Okay I just found this out two days ago, before my ps appointment for a fill, my fiance and I stopped at one of those "Post Masectomy" shops just to look around (summer is coming and I NEED a bathing suit that is gonna fit right-ya know?) Well anyway, they had gazillions of masectomy bras (all new) and the gal asked if I wanted to see a few of them (what the heck we had about twenty minutes to wait so what the heck). The sales lady measured me to make sure of the right size ( and I was off on guessing on my own size just to let you know)-she brought into the room about 10-15 of them, I tried them all on and had found two that I liked so my plan was to tell her that when I had the money i would be into purchase them because I know I didn't have enough money with me. To my wonderful surprise she asked me for my health insurance card and then told me that with my insurance  I am allowed 4 bra purchases per year because of breast cancer-and insurance pays for them. That was a great surprise as that day was my birhday and so I told her that next week before my ps appt I will be stopping in to look at some more.

I just wanted to share this with all you ladies just incase you may want to check your insurance and see if they will do the same for you.

    Have a nice day ladies

    I Love you all!!!

I wish the insurance companies were more forthcoming about benefits when you get hit with a catastrophic illness.

if anyone has medicare, they pay for 4 mast. bras per years. no questions.

silicone breast form - 1 every 2 years and the foam ones i think are every 6 months but not positive on that.

i had mast in 06 and never paid for bras or forms since.

I too have medicare; I was only told about the four bras last week when i was in this store maybe she told me about the rest and I just forgot or was not paying attention-go figure huh? Thanks for the info jerseymaria!!!!

I agree it would be nice if the insurance company let us know about this stuff ahead of time, so we knew where to go or where there was a place that a woman can feel  comfortable having to even try on bra having gone through what we did.

Well I am looking forward to going again to Heidi's this Friday to actually try and look for a bathing suit of which I havent even thought of or dared to wear for the past four years.

Have a nice night and love to ya all!!!
