Is there anyone out there that either has inflammatory breast cancer that has mastases ; or know some one?  My very best, most dearest and loyal friend from highschool has had it for about 1 year and a half.  She had her breast removed and a lot of the lymphnodes; it mastases in her spine and now they think it has occurred in her other breast and lymphnodes. Please help me to know what to expect.  She may not have the surgery to remove the breast.  She doesn't know when enough is enough.  She does know that I will stand strong by her no matter her decision.  I feel she is the only one that can decide if she wants to stop treatment and I will support her either way.  It is the unknown that frightens me; and I am selfish enough that I don't want to lose her.  She is my friend, adopted family; I love her more than words can say.  She is my rock and I am hers. If you know someone in this situation please tell me about them.  Thanks! meme

    Hi Meme-

What a great friend you are to be so concerned for your high-school friend, who obviously means so much to you.

There is a thread here specifically for Inflammatory Breast Cancer.  You can read about the disease and the women (like me) who are being treated for it currently.  IBC is very aggressive and needs to be treated as such.  Does your friend have a good oncologist who has treated Inflammatory Breast Cancer before?  It is important for her to find doctors who are familiar with this type of breast cancer.  I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Inflammatory to my breast and lymph nodes and I am still fighting the disease.  I have had many kinds of chemo, radiation and surgery.  Again, please look at the topic for Inflammatory Breast Cancer on this website.  You can find lots of helpful information about the disease/treatment.  Best of luck to your friend.  She is very lucky to have you as her friend.

    Hi Lauralynne

My sister has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 IBC.  Her doctor has been slow off the mark, please tell me what treatment you have had, which stage you are and any clues as to her prognosis, no matter how bad this may be.  She has burried her head in the sand and I feel I must do her research for her.  I cannot bear the thought of losing her at such a young age, she is so kind and vivacious and alive, please give me as much info as possible, anything could help. Thank you.

sammac - If you go to the Forum Index (it's clickable in the upper left area of this page) you can then scroll down to the Connecting with Others area and under that heasding, you will find the IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer) board. You are much more likely to get your questions answered there. Feel free to start your own thread.Your sister has options, even as a Stage 4. I am so sorry you have had to find us under such unhappy circumstances, but a young, vivacious woman with a loving, supportive sister has a lot to fight for!
